68 fullsize door handle return question

Hi guys,

Recently, I've noticed that my inside door handle doesn't return to it's normal position after opening the door. Does anyone know if there is a spring or something inside the door that pulls the handle back into it's normal position ?

The door open function works fine, I just have to manually put the handle back in it's starting position.

more than likely the circular return spring has broken on the release pivot.



blue spring in the picture.
this is a '69 4dr pivot, '68 i believe is the same idea.

Hi guys,

I'm just getting back to this, after forgetting about it for months.

I've found reproduction door latch mechanisms for both fullsize American Pontiacs and fullsize Chevy's.

Does anyone have experience with door parts for Canadian Pontiacs ?

Would the latch in a Canadian Pontiac be the same as a Chev or an American Pontiac ?

All  Chevy & Pontiac cars use the same latch for 1968. Left & rights are not interchangable
