This is an original Cord. What a pleasure to sit behind the steering. The supercharged Cord had flexipipes coming out the side. The headlights are raised by the front passenger with a little crank handle!

When I was a kid, remember I was born in 1957, I'd ask my Dad what his favourite car was growing up and every time I asked he would say the same thing, a white 1936 Cord 812 Sedan. Is it any wonder ? I have always loved the Cord, beautiful art deco style.

Thanks for the photo of the supercharged version! Note the same style rims! Registration number plate fitted is 812 CRD GP! GP stands for Gauteng, there rest speaks for itself! R5000 ($400) for the number! I believe some had the Lycoming Aircraft engine fitted. Also that the Cord is part of the Deusenberg familiy! Would love to see a Deusie in a Poncho! (Real Beast!) Johann

Did you know John Delorean was fixated with the Dusenberg, that's how the Grand Prix J and SJ designations came to be, in honour of the Duise Model designations. The original 69/70 Delorean inspired Grand Prixs have the same styling basic design as the Dusenberg as well, extremely long hood and short tail. You can even see that influence in the Cord.
Great Info! There are two Cords in South Africa. But I must still try to find where the Beaumonts are! I know where the Chevelle is. Will post pics soon.
