Greetings From Tacoma, WA

I am a new user and live in Tacoma, WA. Retired from the International Assn of Machinists(Boeing). Own a 1957 Laurentian and a US made 1973 Grandville. Also own a 1934 Chevrolet 2 Door Standard sedan, a 1990 454SS Chevrolet Truck and a 1937 Ford 4 door sedan. I am a member of the newly chartered Canadian Pontiac Speciality Chapter of the Pontiac Oakland Club International. I also am a member of the Puget Sound Chapter of POCI. I am an active volunteer for the LeMay - America's Car Museum located in Tacoma. I hope to learn more about Canadian Pontiacs through the forums and hope to contribute as much as possible. I am an active Pontiac enthusiast. For instance yesterday August 29th I coordinated the Puget Sound Chapter's event paticipation in the Lemay Museum Car Show and Auction. We had 12 Pontiacs from the chapter show up even with morning rain. About 6000 spectators showed up to enjoy the show and auction. Visit the Museum's website at www.lemaymuseum.org for information. My Laurentian was the only Canadian Pontiac there but there was a super Australian Holden present. I have attached some pictures of my Pontiacs for you to review.

Welcome! Great to have another American here who appreciates our cars. I love your user name! Some people think that is a slam against our Canadian Pontiacs. I take it as a compliment!

Welcome to the site. I hear they're moving the Lemay collection and this was the last year the way Lemay had it.

I am realy proud to join the CPSC. It is sometimes lonely here in WA, owning the only CP at car shows. The car is nice enough not to get much "car show criticism". I win an occasional trophy with the car which is positive recognition. My friend Andy owns the green Chieftan in the group picture and he loves to talk to show participants and spectators about the differences between the two cars. We sometimes represent the Lemay Museum at various shows here in the area for promotional purposes.  Many folks here show great interest in the historical and economic reasons both countries built their own cars. We get many compliments on our display and stories.
I am sorry I wasn't a charter member with the CPSC. I must not have been informed of the formation of the chapter or as usual I was asleep at the wheel.

In response to 455gto's comment:

Plans have been in the works for 11years to build a new museum featuring cars from the original LeMay collection. Harold LeMay helped start this non-profit effort to preserve as many of his cars as possible. He passed away in 2000 and his widow and family are committed to the  museum. Tacoma has made this the #1 economic development project of our community. The museum board is close to announcing the ground breaking ceremony for a $57,000,000 First Stage construction project next to Interstate 5 next to the Tacoma Dome. The current site at Marymount Academy was designed as an interim or temporary site open to the public for a fee in 2003. The property is owned by the LeMay Estate and use is donated to the museum. See more at www.lemaymuseum.org

In reference to 65sd comments:

I take some ribbing from some people, friends and chapter members but overall comments are postive. In fact when I park in a row of beutiful 55-57 Chevys many people just glance at these totally awesome expensive vehicles but stop to talk about that funny name "Laurentian". I have one 1956 Chev who won't park next to me because "Halfbreed" gets so much attention.
