I picked up a copy a few weeks ago at the local Barnes & Noble. Great article. I sent Don Keefe a note thanking him for writing such a detailed article. It will make a good reference for future conversations.
I'd agree Bill, but I have an issue with the whole NASA vs. NACA terminology. GM Canada clearly and consistently marketed the hoods as NASA type. Makes no diference what the scoop actually is that's what the manufacturer of it called it in Canada. Would also be nice to one day include info on Canadian Cars, regarding Chevy power and special models, for example the Canada Cup GT is as unique if not as rare as a Can Am.
Collectable Automobile has done an article on Canadian Pontiacs in the past but I don't remember the issue date but I think it was in 2008. I was given the issue by friends and it is in storage at this time. Does the magazine have an archive of their articles available on their website?
I have every issue since day one, the only magazine that I collect. You can't beat the quality and yes, sometimes there are mistake's but that's quite uncommon. The magazine first came out in 1984.
I started collecting them when they first came out and faithfully bought them for the next 20 years. When they shot the price up to $12.95 from $7.95 or $8.95 (can't remember off hand which), that was a big enough jump for me to jump. I noticed that they rolled the price back a bit, but by then I had moved on to other mags and internet. I still have the 20 years worth sitting in mint mostly unread condition.
Monza Spyders are rare. What is sad is that many of them went to the crusher.
The Spyder parts are available in Unobtainia. Good luck finding pieces. It is hard enough to find regular H Body parts let alone the limited production stuff.
Those concept cars were neat. Too bad the governments got involved with the safety crap that really had no effect on anything but ruin designs and cost more money.

I had a 78 Monza Spyder was 305 4-speed-with a rusty oil pan and a connecting rod knock-pulled the 305 and installed 400 ci small block chev---it rocked !
first had a 75 Monza 2+2 with a 262 V-8 auto A/C-------just met the girl I bought it from in 84 the the other day !
most recently in 2001 I bought a really cherry 1980 Spyder V-6 auto with 39,000 kms out in London-what a sweet car that was !
The cool thing is that I have a Canadian H Body. I get to combine two major interests in my life into one. I love Canada. I would live in Canada if I could. LOL!
