I just want to post a note here...I'm a newbie to this site but not to 57 Canadian Pontiacs. That Al knows his stuff and I agree with him. I have been under the hoods of lots, not a hundred but close, of 57 6 banger Pontiacs. I can assure you that I have newer seen a 235 in a Pontiac that had numbers matching that cowl data plate. The ones that I have seen, with the heads off, had the larger bore and the captains bars above the starter and were painted green. I have seen a lot of 235's in Canadian Pontiacs, but the numbers didn't match the cowl plate. I wouldn't put a lot of faith in to sales brochures as that was what was to lure the buyer in and could be misleading. I don't know if ethical codes of conduct were established back then.
