Just a note, TDJ also shows for a 92 454.  So you can see how Suffix codes can be confusing. Date code and block numbers more reliable I think.

I looked at it again on my early morning walk. It is a 4 bolt main block, and here is the block number.

Just checking in from the sweetheart's computer and only have a moment..
I have none of my info here to confirm actual application by Suffix but will offer this..

'70 model year and newer Suffixes are 3 digit, '69 and earlier have two..
'70 and up Passenger car Suffixes begin w/ a C, trucks w/ a T..

A quick method to rough guess the year before looking up a Suffix or when the Suffix has mulitple year applications is by counting back 8 digits from the Vin stamp for the model year..

Above example C4N w/ Vin 181185545 casting # 3970010..
The 010 casting was used for many years and the higher nickle content always the rumor..
The 3 digit C suffix would indicate it's out of a '70 or newer car..
The 8 is the year digit so probably 1978..

The TDJ example obviously a '70 and newer truck..

There is a listing for Suffix C4N but it's from 1982 and is a 267 so wouldn't be the 010 casting?.
Something seems amiss so please clean and carefully check # again also casting dates and report back..
It's not CE something is it?.
CE are's over the counter engines..

Here's the Suffix info anyway..

Used in A & B Body cars also Montes

StriperSS above is correct..
Both could be 010 so check casting dates..
Is the Suffix pad the older style long one or short more protruding newer style?.

TDJ = 1972 350 Auto - 175Hp 4Bbl - C-10 & 20
TDJ = 1980 350 Auto - 155Hp 4Bbl - C-10 to 2500 Van/Bus

Either way I believe all 010 castings are 4" bore so if a 3 digit is '70 and newer so would be 350 cranks since the 302 and 327's were gone for '69..

For the TDJ block the date casting date on the side of the block would help to tell if 72 or 80.    

267 blocks are 14010280, 14016376, and 471511 from 79 to 82.  I would say that incorrectly stamped or C4N also used for 78 350 but not recorded on list we are looking at.   But like you said verify if is C4N for sure.

doesnt add up,but anything can happen in canada?
Engine suffix codes are reused decade after decade and nobody had record of them all,especially canada,so maybe that code was reused in 1980 and noboby has record of it being used befor 1980
maybe on a 2 bolt main 350 made in canada between 70 and 79

267s are

14010205 -80-82
14010280-80-82
14016376-80-82

1=Chevy
8= 1978    
1=oshawa
185545 =start of vehicle vin #



older motors have longer pads almost the whole lenght of the front of the head ,newer 80s have short pades were the suffix code is

there should be a date code on the back by the 0010


A is January
B is Febuary
C is March 
etc......

next 2 digits is date of month    (ie 20)

3dr is last number of year  ,ie   9  (1979)

wouldn't it be nice if its 4bolt main and the date codes etc. come up with 1969 z28!!
