It depends on the offset of your wheels   I think P275/60R-15 IS THE MAX on 7 or 8 inch wide rims

Carl-I'm not a tire salesman but I'd have to think that those would be too big, I've seen guys unbolt the shocks-put the wheel on and lower it down then mount the shocks to get big ones in there but I don't think 275 will go-possibly with optimum offset and the wheel lips ground off

you may be correct   I thought 65's had lots of room, but maybe they are like my Chief..  ARCADIAN had 275/60R-15's on his car..

Its the quarter panel that is the problem-possibly-sure would look tough

have a look at my avatar,,it's a 55 , but I'm runnin 15 x 7 ralley ( 68 vette offset ) with a 255/70/15. I wanted the height to fill the wheel wells and give it a street racer look.

a 275/60/15 rubbed,,,on the 8 wouldn't fit
a 255/60/15 rubbed on a 8" wouldn't fit

so...goes to show you ....measure and run this formula , back space and tire size work together.

Don't doubt yourself Carl, you're absolutely right.
I've got 275 M/T drag radials on my 65 Chevelle 300 deluxe, on a 15x8 Weld Pro-Star. I don't have the wheel receipt handy, it was postive offset, of course, and I had to use  Mr. Gasket wheel spacers, 3/16", I think. that gave me a whole 1/2" or so of clearance at the frame and at the inner wheel lip. You've got to pull the lower shock bolts and lower the rearend to get tires on and off.

I had L60's on my 66 Chevelle (similar body to 65 Beaumont) on 8" Corvette rallye wheels, had to trim the inner fender lip a wee bit, but they were baaaaaaaad, and as near as I can figure out, L60 = 265/60

L60-15 = 10.5 section width, 27.86 diameter
265/60-15 = 10.4 section width, 27.5 diameter
275/60-15 = 10.8 section width, 28.0 diameter - a little too fat
265/65-15 = 10.4 section width, 28.6 diameter - a little taller

I have quite a bit of experience with the 62-65 Acadian's wheel fit and when I first saw your thread, I thought I could help with some advice.  After taking a second look, I'm guessing your car is a 65 Beaumont as opposed to a 65 Canso.
I know there are many more Beaumont owners on this site than us early Acadian guys but come on help me out here.  You posted in the Lounge so that didn't help me identify your car.
The two things I would like to see Todd add to the area on the left of our post are, location and vehicle.

FYI, the most common problem with wheel fit on the early Acadian's and Nova's is the fact that inside the wheel well, the outboard panel, has a wave, (curve, rib) area that narrows the width of the wheel well.  Therefore, a tire & wheel combo are mounted and they look good, they clear the lip of the wheel well.  Drive the car and with the first bump you hit, you hear tire rub or you stop the car and find a rub mark on the sidewall of your new tire.  The width of the wheel well narrows up in the well.
I have no idea if this is true with any other models but I know it is on the 62-65 Acadians.
