RE: Rally Wheel Installations on Canadian Pontiacs

OK thanks to Carl maybe we finally have it straight. Where i was out ot lunch was my belief that Canadian Pontiac used the sombrero style before 70.  I have seen the blank sombreros as late as on a 75 Sprint. I also thought that you had to have discs to order the rally wheel but I guess not.

I'd like to thank Carl1 for clearly answering each of my four questions.....even down to numbering the answers to match the numbered questions.

I'm so pleased to see a logically written answer, I don't even care if he's right. rofl.gif

I'm having a little trouble sorting all the wheat from the chaff in this thread. Can we at least agree on some basics?

Please answer the follwing questions.

1. Are these the correct centres for 1967 CP B-body?

2. Correct for CP B-bodies for other years? If so, which years?

3. Correct for Beaumont? If so, which years?

4. Correct for Acadian? If so, which years?

Thanks.

1) Yes

2) 67-70

3) Yes, 67

4) I think the answer is yes, 67 only.

I agree with Carl on 1) and 2).

4)  "Disc Brakes" were 67 only, regardless of vehicle.  I'm not so sure about the the short flat caps being used on Acadians, at least the SS model, they came with Chevy SS style five spoke rims with a small SS cap (although larger than the flat cap), same style wheels as on a 69-70 Chevelle SS.

3)   67-69 on Beaumonts

I hope this helps, a no script big sombreo style that 66 Grande guy refers to. I took this one in June. It was on a Sprint.

Yes, mid 70's Sprints is the only place I have seen them.  As far as I know, they were never installed on CPs.  They are actually reproducing this cap now, although only in plastic.  Would be great if someone could reproduce the black, bullseye flat cap as well, but don't hold your breath!

Yes, the short flat cap, I call them bullseye caps as well.  Who is making them?  How much?  Have  you seen an example?

$50 each, well that certainly seems like a fair price, if they are metal and decent quality.

I saw some at Barrie this weekend that were just corroded and pitted pieces of junk and the guy still wanted $25 each.  Good for Dale for doing this.  Now I wonder if he could reproduce some not so common 454V emblems...

I have a set-they're pretty decent-even better if you consider they are only $50 each-I bought some emblems too-they were assume

Bill Brown scored two nice originals while walking with me at Barrie-then I went back to the car corral only to find a set of disc brake ones on a Camaro-I made a deal and have them home (it was them or the Timmies bike !)
