Emmisions, check

My 365 lb ft torque 5.7 Suburban cuts out at 160 and my 32 valve dual overhead cam Northstar Deville cuts out at 180. 2 of my 5 cars are already limited so no big deal for me either.

RE: Emissions, check

Gentlemen,

You may be missing the point of me including the reference to the proposed speed limiting requirement. Of course it's unnecessary (or even sensible) to own a car capable of exceeding 90 mph..........until you find yourself passing a string of cars on a two-lane highway and suddenly realize that you're not going to make it in time.........or you're making the desperation run from your remote cottage to meet an ambulance with your critically injured son bleeding to death in the back seat. Tell me how you'll feel when the fuel cuts off and your wife is screaming for you to "go faster".

But, the real issue here is what comes next.........with government.....something always comes next.

That was my point. Another brick in the wall.

On this broad issue I agree with you. Less government is good government.

We've raised the current generation of men by Soccer Mom's and this is what results.

Skip on the limiters and spend on teaching people how to drive properly. A high performance car is not a bad thing, Low performance drivers are.

I told my 20 year old son about the idea of limiters. His response was almost identical to Bob's examples of why no to.

Gov. of Ont [ Mc. GOOFY] has already passed the speed limiters for large trucks, Max 105km/p/hr. This pertains to all heavy trucks running in Ont. so in bound trucks from other prov. & states must have their computors set back to 150km. Have you been on the hwy. lately outside of the city & seen one truck "try" & pass another, it take 5 km to it if they can!!!!! What a JOKE, why not JUST INFORCE THE SPEED LIMIT It's there for a reason. I'm glad I'm not driving the "big rigs" anymore, don't miss it a bit. Pete

I agree 100%.  the "glacial" passing maneuver is causing massive traffic jams.  the idiots at MTO who came up with this one should be forced to drive behind a pair of passing trucks for a while and see if it is such a good idea.

I don't have a problem with the speed limit, who needs to go that fast on the road.

why not put limiters on things like ovens then as well, who "needs" to cook anything above 350*F?

in reality, it's a safety issue, to be able to accelerate to avoid a situation is just as important as being able to brake or handle around it.
