poor mans hoist

Just thought I'd show what I did for working on the 2+2 made these out of 2x12's with lots of bracing. works great for doing maintaince, & worked perfect for "pullin" the trans. when flex plate broke. Not alot of $$$ invested, & I can dettach the ramps & slide them to each side of garage & they out of the way when not in use

Looks really good.

How did you stop the ramps from sliding, if I may ask. Any time I have tried something like that, the ramps just got pushed forward on the concrete. Very frustrating.

You have got some great woodworking skills!!

Very safe looking, sometimes I get the creeps when I get under the car, other times its so serene I don't want to come out. If I had that set up I could gaze all night at the underside of my Pontiac! biggrin

The ramp part 6' long with a 1' pad on top that meets up with the long support. Ramps are "dettachable" & could be used on their own. No problems with it moving as ramp is not steep, & car goes up, not trying to push it ahead, unlike those "widow makers" metal ones the chain stores sell!!! The bar across the front just keeps them together, in case it does move, & also sets the tire width, I have notched the bar for diff. vehicles. I have had my 2001 Chevy P/up on there as well as wifes 06 pontiac Vibe + a 41 Graham Hollywood Hot Rod [not mine but I can wish]  Pete

Looks like the ramp is about three feet or so, is that right? (the sloped portion). and about 12" high? I agree with you about the metal ones. All my cars just push them. have given up using them. Very frustrating.

Thanks for your time.

Ramp part is 5' long & flat part on top is 1' long, very easy slope to get up on. Ramps are dettachable from long part, so it gives you more room to roll around on the "creeper"  Main part is 12' long!!!

That is a very slick setup, and much safer than anything else a guy can use.

I might have to consider a "copyright infringement" and build a set!
