Looks like a great time was had up in Earlton. Been following the news reports for over a week now. Sounds like a first class event..well organized with good weather.
Recognize most of the cars in the pics. The 61 was won in a draw and resides in Kirkland Lake.. The '06 Caddy is but one of a number of older cars owned by Rod Inglis ( deceased ) of Earlton. The 59 is a low line, low mileage original which also resides in Kirkland Lake. The '65 Parisienne, if its still with the owner I knew, is from New Liskeard.
One news report showed a square dance routine done while driving tractors. That's right 4 ladies and 4 gents, each in appropriate costume on their own tractor, doing a square dance routine.
Quite the temporary village they set up. Large farmers field converted into a campground , complete with electric and water. Forget the number of campers but somewhere up around 1000. Right beside hwy 11.
Evidently the plowing competition was only the excuse for the gathering as there was so much more to see and do.
Where was this show? That looks like my old 65 Parisienne convt that I sold to a guy in northern Ontario in 1996. What color was the interior? Were the horizontal bars in the centre of the grilles painted black ( I can't tell from the picture?). Did you get the onwer's name and hometown by any chance? Thx.
