I'm down to needing a fan belt, then it's time to fire it up. The only old belts I had around were too long, or too short. I picked the closest in length that was a bit too long and devised a spring loaded tensioner. Do you think this will work ok?
LOL, good idea, I should have thought of that. Maybe I didn't spend enough time on R & D, I might have rushed it into production without thinking it through?

Carl that spring looks like a low rpm piece......make sure you up it to the 6000 rpm type before revving that big block up...

But remember, this is only the hydraulic version, not the L72. I'm not sure I'll turn it that high, and I think the 6000 RPM spring would add unnecessary weight to the car.

Great idea...But that spring should be pulling inward to give the belt more bite on the pulley! After all these years.....thought you would have known better!

Carl, hook a nice little bearing on that spring instead of lubing the belt. You may then find a better place to connect the spring to get good tension.
If all else fails, find a good GM parts guy to help you find a numbers matching belt, we'd hate to see anything fake on this all original 66.

-The banging noise in the background is the old furnace fan I'm using to push fresh warm air into the garage bay.
-At the top left of the screen you can see the oil gauge on a copper tube.
-It helps to remember to turn the key on before using the remote starter button. Otherwise it only fires as long as the starter button is being held. I thought I had already turned the key on-----------duh.......... As soon as I went and turned the key on, it fired!
Crappy video but I was home alone, no video tech in the building.
