Remove side windshield trim and then remove 6 phillips head screws from the front edge of the pad.
Then the fun begins, remove the wiper arms and the remove 6 screws which hold the wiper cowl in place and remove the cowl.
You will find two 3/8 speed nuts close to the center of the windshield, remove them and them lift slightly on the edge off the pad and pull.
*note: if you car has ever had the dash pad off for electrical work , the two cowl nuts may not have been reinstalled. And you may not need to pull the cowl off. Give the pad a tug before removing cowl.

Nah, I drove it like it was a 194! I wasn't going to get into trouble, although we have an excellent relationship with our neighbours. I'd have to be pretty awful to get in trouble with them. (They're both LEO)
But that little drive sure felt fine.
I went out earlier when it was cooler. It warmed up today (finally) and the streets are a pigpen now.
I'm disappointed, I bumped up the cam a bit from stock but it's not enough to be real noticeable. However, I wanted to err on the tame side. I don't like when guys put monster cams in a car that it's not appropriate for. If I'd done an L72 clone it would have been sweet to put that cam in though.

Carl - I have a hotter cam than the usual L36 in our 66 Impala (can I say that here?) and believe me it is plenty
for the street....... Been in there now 23 years and 30,000 miles and I love it.
Good eye! But doesn't the "After" fan belt also have "GM" embossed where the Gates does not? I can't see clealy when I enlarge but it looks like GM?
I can't wait to come on down and help you take it for a spin, lol!
Yes, the AFTER pic has the GM belt, no more jobber belt with the notches in it. That was the last GM belt in stock in Canada anywhere. A dealer 200 miles west of here still had one on the shelf. They were discontinued a number of years back. My crappy phone pic is not very clear.....
Our street is stripped fairly bare. I may take it out today and drive it up and down the street a few times. The car is all legal, except there's no hood on it yet (illegal to drive that way) so I have to wait and see if our neighbour goes away to work....
Carl, we cleaned out Elmer' garage a while back with all kinds of belts and filters from his shop, might have thrown out some treasure.
If I can figure out a decent looking plug for the antenna hole in the front fender, the radio is coming out. I like the clean look of no radio. My 65 Acadian was built without one and I enjoyed that car without it for about 27 years.

Our 66 Impala has both AM/FM and both work but I seldom have it on except for a Jays' game.
It has a rear deck antenna (straight up) and looks cool and is sooooo mid 60's.

......big block, 4 speed, bench seat, it doesn't get much better
Heads on, new Mahle bolts. Came with sealer on the threads, added a little more to the block threads. Torqued in two steps to 65 ft/lbs, ARP lube on the bolt shoulders. New Summit branded lifters, pushrods and rockers. They say it's a good idea to change it all when doing a new cam and springs. Preloaded lifters to 1/2 a turn each at zero lash on the base circle. Liberal Moly lube on the cam lobes and lifter bottoms. Assembly lube on everything else. We hope she'll break in no issue.
Fitted the damper using a new Moroso Damper installer. Threaded perfectly into the newly drilled and tapped crank snout. Worked slick. Added a little bit of Ultra Black sealer on the keyway since it's a oil leak pathway. Lubed the seal. Threaded in the new Moroso retainer bolt finger tight to test length. All good.
Installed the cleaned up PCV baffle. Red locktite on the bolt...
