I finally got the 64 Impala front end back together, 4 new B/joints, all new uppr. & lwr. C/arm bushings, 2 new lwr. control arm,new gas shocks, & sway bar link kits! This was a job that fought me all the way, uppr. arms have NO clearance for removal with 409 "lump"and I had to cut the bolts then press them out after arms were off, "or' remove exhaust , or lift engine out!!!!Put all shims back in correct order but it "pulled" left " hard!!! trip to alignment shop showed "EVERYTHING" out of whack! the 9er now drives better than it ever has!! While I was at it ,I detailed the engine & re-painted it [in the car] 64 wagon got the mirrors converted to sequential arrows which was another job that tested my patience but turned out great, also converted both cars to quartz clock movement!!! Now all I need is some "good" weather!!! Took a pass on 2 shows already as sitting in the rain & cold temperatures don't "turn my crank"""
Are you running radials and if so, do you have the alignment specs?
Yes have radial tires, alignment shop had the specs. for car then "tweaked" it for radials?? That's all I know but sure steers good.

Sent both clocks to the "Clock Works" in Wisconsin, 1 was a "BORG" and can't remember the other make? [ G E maybe] averaged out around $165 ea.US, quick service and very accurate !!! Pontiac one has sweep hand & is very smooth motion.

This has been the last 7 days in my shop... The new 327 is done and ready to go in the New impala we just purchased (correct #'s engine for the car) and since we were originally going to put this in the impala we had (283) we had to put it back together. 327 car done and 283 almost done. We home to have the 283 car for sale by this coming weekend
and the 283 below... Busy week but we are almost done!

I couldn't bear to wasted the whole day because then that would mean the wind and the heat won today.
After supper I tore apart the starter I will install on my car when I change it over to the 11" clutch and flywheel.
And then for good measure, I installed the reproduction Magnum 500 centre cap emblems (which 70_SS_ACADIAN so graciously purchaseed out of the US for me) on the wheels I got from 66GrandeGuy. Talk about nostalgia. Most of you guys likely don't even remember back in the day when we'd see these wheels around. Yes, you saw them on Dodges, AMCs, Fords and GMs from the factory, but they never came as an OEM wheel with this emblem on them!
Ignore the white letters on the tires. That's how they came from Ken. I'm not a fan of them showing so they will be flipped around. Oh, and same for the wheel weights on the outside, that will get fixed too.
wife came home with hhr ss over heating and a/c not working. Tried to add coolant but it over flowed. Found rad fan not working, check fuse and its good. Give up on that problem and try to fix a/c. Added 134a but no luck, compressor no start. Checked forums and says relay maybe gone. Empty spot in fuse panel where it shows it. Check forums again, hhr ss not the same as hhr. SS model has module on fan shroud. Module runs fan plus a/c compressor Oh well I`m wiser now so lets order module. List price from GM $368
Finally got the convertable top on the 69 to go up and down on its own, took the dash apart to get at the gas gauge to see where the needle was as I couldn't see it and figured it feel off or was missing ? as it turned out it was way passed the full mark ? so backed it off to the half tank reading..gotta put things back together yet, but man taking the gauge cluster out sure was a pain in the butt..I'll be sore tomorrow !!
Worked on some old solid wood French doors to put in our cottage. They came from an old family cabin that ended up being sold about 5 years ago. I believe the doors were new when the family cabin was built around 1940. I didn't write this to talk about the doors but rather the amazing old hardware in the doors that is such SOLID stuff. Wow, when I see it compared to the new stuff I see in the hardware stores..... And even the screws, they appear to be a copper alloy maybe? And some of them look to be brass?

Nice. I love the look of chrome Magnum 500s without the trim ring.
For the day 2 look, why not add some redlines? I think that would look great on your car... if that's what you have these for. Otherwise the steelies + dog dish caps are just fine with blackwalls (IMHO).

Probably all brass (which is a copper alloy). I've seen variances in colour.
You just can't beat that old solid hardware. I really miss those days when you could easily find good quality stuff like that. Man, where did we go wrong?
Motor Wheel Corp , this was their aftermarket wheel that they sold at Sears and Roebuk and the likes . Fully chromed with reverse bell To give it the wide look .
Day 2 Wheel for sure .
They produced the magnums for the big 3 as well .
Leave the white letters out to complete the Day 2 look .. personal preference of course.
Redlines would be nice if you have deep pockets !

The only problem with old lock sets like Carl's is that there are only about 12 key variations, and the same lock sets were used on exterior doors. Also, they are VERY easy to pick.

installed new fan Module on HHR . Fan runs all the time and A/C still not working. Disconnect battery and still no change. She drove to work yesterday and today I started it and fan only comes on when needed and A/C is working. Guessing computer had to learn new module
