There's a collapsed old barn next to mine and the owner dumped a pile of perfectly good firewood on the debris so.. I loaded her up and my son is splitting it tomorrow. With the cost of everything right now I'll take the free fuel!

Some wood has BTU's this has Free To Use! biggrin

I was going to spray in the Rhino Liner but figured I may as well wait until the bed gets scratched up. I couldn't muster the courage to sand my freshly painted bed to prep for the liner! Being careful not to scratch the box sides though!

Repaired my beloved 22 year old DeWalt 304 Recip saw today.

A few days ago I was up on a ladder cutting a branch and she refused to start. Never a problem in all these years, and we've been through a lot. Ended up buying a Milwaukee cordless to replace it, nice, but I just refused to let her go.

Found a schematic on line, opened it up, tested the cord, good. No burnt wires inside anywhere. The 2 speed resistive switch (1) tested fine. Sprayed it with Deoxit. Tested voltage across the Triac to the right side brush lead (2) and the opposite field brush lead (3). Good there, measured a variable 0 to 120v when pulling the variable speed trigger switch. Good.

Hmm. Pulled the brushes out. They looked great, lots left. Tested for continuity fine. The armature kind of looked pretty black and dirty. Cleaned that up with a strip of very fine emery paper cut to the armature width wrapped around it, spun he motor fan while holding the paper tight. Came up clean and smooth.

Gently picked out between the armature contact gaps, gave it a spray of contact cleaner then brake clean.

Temporarily hooked it up (as pictured)...and she worked! Reassembled it, and gave it a lube and cleaning it well deserved. How satisfying is is when you can get something old running again? I feel most just get chucked, and I'd imagine the quality today cannot compare to back then. Oh, and I've noticed the newer corded saws have no external provision for changing brushes...this one does. Just throw it away now I guess.

Good work, just weigh the new cheap junk compared to old stuff and the quality of the parts is not compatible either.

Sure wish I would have taken the auto courses instead of repeating grade 9 and then grade ten learning to type in the commercial course.

Passed grade 11 and 12 when they introduced IBM computers..... something you get to fix.

I've been having "fun" diagnosing at P0325 code in my 94 Buick Park Ave with the venerable "OBD 1.5" . This is a knock sensor circuit code. Thankfully I got a set of original shop manuals for the car. Using my Snap On scan tool I noticed "Knock" reading "NO" but Knock Retard was at 5 degrees at idle. It should be at 0. Clearing the code would get rid of knock retard for about 10 seconds and then the code would reset and the knock retard would go back to 5 degrees.
I checked for 5v reference at the plug to the sensor (disconnected from the sensor) and it was there. I checked resistance at the knock sensor and it was within spec (Thanks to Vince for providing me sensor specs as the GM manual doesn't provide this).
I ran the car while monitoring the "Knock" reading and tapped the engine with a screwdriver and sure enough the "Knock" changed to "YES" however Knock Retard timing didn't change. I dropped the PCM and measured voltage at the knock sensor wiring terminal on the PCM side which according to the manual should be about 2.5 v as the AC current from the sensor drops the 5v reference at this terminal and it was 2.5V. So the final item to condemn was the PROM. Greaser sent me a PCM from a 94 Park Ave (supercharged however) and on a whim I swapped it over and sure enough the knock sensor fault was gone (but I had a Quad Driver error which could be from the wrong PROM for the car or a bad PCM as this came from a junkyard). I also noticed the PROM that was in my car (which also had the PCM replaced with a used one in the past) was not the right one either. I found a good AC Delco parts website and found the proper PROM part number listed on there for my car. It's long been discontinued however it showed me which software should be on the PROM for my car(BFRT) . I found one NOS PROM on eBay and bought it. It's on it's way and fingers crossed my issue will be fixed! If I didn't have the factory repair manual and a good scan tool I'd still be at square one.

Also the starter went on my truck so that's getting replaced tomorrow and the HVAC temp knob on our Honda snapped and that's on it's way from Amazon...

I had a couple of spruce trees fall in our woods last year. A friend of mine who lives just around the corner from me has a sawmill that's been in use by his family since the 1800's. It's now run on a Cummins diesel however the sawdust vacuum still runs on a turn of the century single cylinder engine. He picked up the logs yesterday and we went over to the mill this morning to watch him work his magic:

I got 41 "true" 2x4's all over 9 feet long.

2x4's.jpg

They will be used for outdoor projects. They are currently stacked nicely in the barn.

What a great stack of lumber Todd!

How many trees, and what size (diameter) were they aprox.?

I'd love to do the same at some point in Gaspe, we have close to 40 acres of woods with some large cedars.

Support your local sawmill. You know exactly where your 2 x4 came from.

All my wall 2 x 6 and my interior finish in my garage is from a local sawmill.

They were about 16-18" in diameter. I was actually shocked at the amount of wood they produced. Now I can't wait until more fall down. biggrin

Yes looks to be old school mill, LOL. But effective. Had my Cedar milled a few years back on

a more modern set up. Siding for the new shop. Sure beats buying it from the local cedar place.

The fake L79 is back on the road with its new Chevy II 327 engine.

I freshened some parts in the Muncie, added a Comp Plus shifter.

Engine seems366EB042-F3FC-4079-A9BA-4D6AE897E230.jpeg strong but I haven't teally stepped into it yet.

Not a great day. My "NOS" PROM for my 94 Park Ave was defective. The car wouldn't even start when plugged in. I assume instead of being NOS stock from a dealership it was a defective PROM the dealer couldn't return since the box was opened.

I put the Supercharged Park Ave Prom in my original PCM for kicks and the car runs fine but sets a code. Now my Snap on Scanner has a problem and won't power up. Tried it on my truck to see if it was the car causing the issue with the scanner however it wouldn't power up on it either. disbelief

So, if anyone has a junkyard nearby with a non-supercharged 94 Park Ave I'd be greatful for the PCM as I'm sure wreckers won't sell just the PROM.

The car is parked back in the barn until further notice.

Sorry to hear it not working out. Always takes longer than it takes.

Don't forget the other car that has the same PCM is the 94 Oldsmobile 98.

There must be a fair number of them out there heading for the junk yard as well as the 94 Park Avenue.

For those who may come across any of these two cars for Todd, the

PCM number must be PN 16183247 or the EPROM Part Number: 16192761

Let's get that Park Avenue back on the road.

Yes, that ECM is in quite a few cars. The quickest way to tell if it's the right PROM is to remove the two access screws on the PCM and on the PROM module you'll see four letters. The correct one for my car is BFRT.
***UPDATE*** I just purchased another one on eBay- this one is out of a working vehicle (allegedly) so fingers crossed it works! It's only money...

Those cruise setups are pretty basic, it shouldn't be too bad to figure it out.  You haven't done any testing yet?
