They got in via the air intake?

Or up the tailpipe?

My son bought me this 10000lb winch and receiver mount a few months ago. Little did we know how much it will come in handy when we start to clean out the dozens of fallen trees in our woods. The weather has been unseasonly warm lately so we decided to install it. Installation was easy and I can feel the Testosterone levels increase in my body just from looking at it. biggrin

That looks like exactly like the 12,000 lb winch I use on my car trailer. I tell people that thing will pull ANYTHING it's ever been asked to pull. Tons of fun but boy are they heavy!

Isn't there a plow going on there?

Went to fix a front flat on my Cavalier and found this little critter "baked" to the caliper. He was wedged between the caliper and the rim. Thinking I picked him up on the road....

Yep, in about a months time. That's the great part about having the winch on a recieiver mount.  It takes 2 minutes to disconnect and we'll pull it off and install the plow (which takes a minute to install)

Hopefully we won't need the plow for a few weeks yet!

Bit of a sad day on the car side of things. I waved goodbye to this Pontiac today. We now only own one Pontiac, my 66...

One tree out. 200 more to go..hmm Luckily they aren't the size of trees in BC! The winch makes pulling them up the ravine where they are much easier.

You may already know this but when I have been reading about winches on the truck forums, they say there's two keys to longevity.

1) Keep them out of rain, snow, dust etc. Covered when not in use, or better yet, stored inside

2) Don't run them continuous. Cycle it when you are making it work hard.

Apparently they last much longer if they don't get "weather" and they don't get overheated.

It was but it's a very enthusiastic young man who bought it. His dad is a distant cousin of mine. "Dad" emailed me tonight saying when he was beside son on 4 lane driving home to Winnipeg, son had a massive grin! We gave him a pretty screamin' good deal on it, affirmed by anyone I have asked who knows G8's, their value etc.

Yes and also make sure you don't put the truck in park when using it. Neutral with parking brake on.

Apparently you could damage the park pawl winching heavy objects. Make sense I guess.

Must have been a tough decision ? Probably 200 hp more than the impala and better fuel mileage? Hope you wont regret selling it?

Actually the G8 is 101 hp more than the Impala, G8 is a bit over 300 pounds lighter than the Impala. G8 is a far superior handling car, it would do circles around the Impala in an autocross race. But I can't get B bodies out of my system. I ran about 15 miles tonight round trip (it's almost all highway miles) and I'll take the Impala over the G8 100 times over for a highway cruiser. This Impala is no slouch either. When we owned it previously from 2000 to about 2010 I did a K&N intake setup to delete all the stock restrictive stuff, 160* thermostat, reprogrammed PCM and 3.73 gears. It's no G8 but those few mods woke it up nicely.

We didn't want to sell it but the same as with our 97 Trans Am convertible we sold earlier this year, we had no choice. My wife has a neuromuscular disease and the G8 was getting to be a challenge for her to get in and out of. The Impala will be our second vehicle. It's a bit better to get in and out of, and there's more to the story I won't get into but it helped someone out that we bought the Impala from him.  We are shopping for a GMC Canyon 4X4 to be our primary vehicle. We road tested one back in June and we really liked it. She found it nice to get in and out of.

This getting old thing.................makes us even more thankful for all the good years we've enjoyed. So far this year we've sold our cabin on the lake and these 2 cars to facilitate the physical changes in her life. Any of you guys who are happily married like I am know you gladly give up anything for the best wife in the world. It's just "stuff".

Big job of the year lol. Changed the 5/8 heater hose on the 65. Had a on and off drip at the core nipple that wouldn't resolve by tightening the clamp (vintage good quality Tridon, not China). Leaks when there is no pressure and the car is cold. Weird. It doesn't appear to be the core itself. Discovered a little river had run out from under the car two days ago. Time to fix.

Cut the old hose off, scrubbed up up the nipple with fine scotchbrite, giving it a hatched surface, and installed the new. Hopefully that solves it. I just hate coolant leaks. Such a mess.

And yes, I do have the proper clamp, just have to paint it. (thanks guys!)

I do like how they look, and I've tried using re-using old original towers, and they just wouldn't work very well. Are they intended as single use only?
