We are having a garage sale today and tomorrow along side our next door neighbours. I didn't really have time to schedule anything but in the breaks in between helping them and greeting the odd "customer" I found time to balance the 4 tires I mounted on the Magnum 500's the other night and install them. Yay or nay? You won't hurt my feelings no matter what you say about how it looks!
Now build another 1 by 20x40 and we will be moving in.

I managed to find a plumber who was able to come out and look at my well problem. I took the day off to watch and learn.
The pump is only about 50 feet down with flexible 1" pipe going to a "pitless adapter" which is kind of a quick disconnect about 5 feet down to join that supply pipe to the horizontal pipe leading to the house.
As the plumber was lifting the pump and supply pipe out of the well casing he noticed water pouring out of the supply pipe about 15 feet above the pump. There was this nice split in the pipe:
He says he's never seen this before and I have to admit the split looks like a it was done by a mat knife. It was the previous owner who had this well installed. A split just about all the way through would eventually leak and look like a pump issue.
Just saying...
This pumber was a great guy and he only charged me for two clamps, the joiner and an hours labour. I'll be keeping his business card handy.
According to my power monitor the draw from the pump running non stop was costing me about $100/month in electricity.
Spent the week finishing instatallation of siding on my new storage building. All that's left to do then is pour the floor and add the insulation. Finally I will be able to keep my cars together in a dry heated space.
Theres's an elderly fellow in his late 80's who lives alone in a little bungalow near my place. He's got this old motorhome and a big Mercedes that has been sitting in the driveway for as long as I can remember. Well he heard I like to tinker with cars and asked if I could try to get them going as he wants to sell them. Both are from 1995. The Motorhome has a Ford 460. He said he had them running about a year ago. I was concerned about fuel quality but figured I'd at least see if I could get them to turn over. He did have the batteries out and had them on chargers. The motorhome turned out to be the easiest. I cleaned the battery terminals and cables, hooked it up, checked the oil and it fired right up and ran great. The Mercedes was another story. This one is a top of the line S600 that's seen better days. The battery was in bad shape so I hooked the booster cables (which was fun since the battery is in the trunk and there are no provisions to boost under the hood. Everything would light up nice and bright but there was no crank at all. Where do you start with one of these? Searches for relay and fuse locations online were giving me results that didn't even match what I was seeing on this car! Where there was supposed to be relays I found 5 different computer modules! I did find three separate fuse panels, two of which weren't labeled! I finally found one obsure post from years ago on a MB forum where a guy mentions that starting in 1995 on these cars the security relay for the starter was actually on the same circuit as the cigarette lighter! Blow that fuse and she doesn't start! My next marathon was finding a diagram of a Mercedes fuse panel that matched the car and finally I found one. Circuit "16" is the cigar lighter. Low and behold that fuse was blown! I had a spare in my truck, plugged it in, hooked up the booster cables and she started! The salt air has really played a number on this car. All four rotors are rotten and I suspect the calipers are siezed. He had hoped to drive it to the local garage for an inspection. I told him not to bother and just advertise it as is. These cars had a complicated vacuum operated power window and lock system. We got the drivers window down and had a heck of a time getting it back up. I couldn't imagine owning one of these cars!
Been a bad couple of weeks. Blew my knee out at JR couple of weeks ago. Was getting way better day by day. Went back to work and it blew up like a cantalope. So I just sat in the lounge chair and watched the electrician work on the hydro shed. It's not funny when you wreck yourself this bad! Most times..I get back ater after a day or two. Pulled my rotator last year and only missed 1 day of work! Doc on Tues and see what he says.... Got lot's done before I blew it....... Entrance to property.

Finally got my son's diesel Mondeo (Fusion) running by filling up the fuel filter, but it stopped as soon as that was used up. Apparently I need to keep doing that until it - hopefully - gets rid of all the air and drags fuel from the tank!
a421Cat is shipping rear quarters for the rag top soon and my favourite body man is ready to go to work on her.

Place is looking great Jim!
This getting older thing sure sucks sometimes. Can't get as much done in a day as we used to and when we screw up and and over do it takes twice as long or longer to get back into shape. My reno progress at the farm is not progressing at the rate I need it to.
Ground pretty much has settled from last summer cistern tank install. It cooled off here yesterday so I got a good size section of the pavers put back down
Helped my brother work on his 69 nova. Mainly lights and power steering issues. Not major things, just something to kill time waiting on word when he and his family can get back home after being evacuated because of the forest fire close to Halifax.
I added some stainless steel marine cleats to the 98 Chev pickup box today, 4 smaller ones in the corners and 2 larger fold down dock cleats in the center. No factory tiedowns in the 8 ft box. Used stainless bolts and nilocks and a load of grease and installed them on top of the liner. The liner I had removed and the inside was sprayed when I had the truck Rust Checked. I also put a hood deflector on it, the Tacoma had one and it protected the hood well from rock chips.

Mahone Bay, NS Still not old enough to need an automatic
A couple of weeks ago it was "free" weekend. I love all the stuff that shows up at the curbs. I'm constantly picking up junk to give it a whole new purpose. I didn't have to go far for one of the items this year, the baby cart was at the curb next door.
So this cart plus this who-knows-what-it-was
Became this. You may not be able to see it but the handle pivots up so it's at a nice height to pull or push the cart.
Now when I go to auto wreckings it will be simpler to haul my tools and drag out the bigger heavier parts. I used to use one of those two wheel moving dollies but it's so tippy and also the tires on them are too small diameter for rugged terrain.
I am currently insulating and sheeting the inside of my new 48' by 40' storage garage. After those tasks are finished I hope to paint the floor and move the cars in at the end of June.
