On the advice of my paint and body man, we are treating the underside of my 63 Acadian Beaumont SD with a product called "lizzard skin". Don't know a whole lot about it other than most of the rod guys around here are using it on the bottom side of the rods they are building. It looks kind of like Rhino Liner but it is quite a bit more expensive. The properties of the skin are sound deadening, heat shield and corrosion protection. The only question now is, should I have it colored to body color or leave it black? I don't think it will be too expensive to color as the paint is not exposed to any UV rays, so we will use single stage and it will be absorbed into the liner. Anybody have any experience with this product??
Well the lizzard skin project is all done. Got it home just in time to stick it in the garage before the snow fell last week. I didn't have an opportunity to take any pictures while the car was on the lift, so I took a couple this afternoon as best I could in the garage. Two years ago when the car was painted we had the hood and fenders off but the motor was still in the car so the decision was made to not take time to paint the firewall. The new paint was close in color to the old except it was base clear so in the end the color was very similar but you could tell the difference between the firewall and the rest of the car when it was finished. Well this time, we had the opportunity to fix that by covering everything up and painting the firewall in the base clear Tangerine. So, I have included a picture of the newly painted firewall also. Hope you like it. After the lizzard skin was dry, it was sprayed with the Tangerine paint same as the body color.
Looks good Norm, must have been fun masking everything off. I think it looks a little too good to sell. In some ways it makes me chuckle because now these cars don't get exposed to the harsher elements, that's the way those cars should have been prepped when they were first driven out of the showroom.

Believe me Jerel, I'm still getting a lot of action on my convertible and I'm taking the convertible to Florida for a couple months to drive and enjoy. If the Convertible isn't gone by the NNN spring mini-nats I will have it there. That show has been my lucky charm in the past. I have sold two cars as a result of showing them at the mini-nats in Kississimee. Meanwhile the Acadian will be snug in my heated garage back home so I think the Acadian is safe from sale. The bottom line is I only need to sell one of the cars, so if the convertible goes, the Acadian stays. I think we talked on the Power Tour last year and that is what I enjoy. I really want to drive the Acadian on a tour around the Great Lakes or east of Toronto. This protection is really not for show as much as it is about driving the car without fear of damaging the undercarriage. I love to drive my cars and this car was due for some protection after 1700 miles on the Tour last year. I just didn't think paint would keep it protected. Norm
Sounds like this stuff is better than locktite.
