Have you ever seen Captains of the Clouds?  Warner Brothers 1941, shot on location in Technicolour in Canada including a cameo by Billy Bishop himself.

Total WW2 propaganda but really kind of enjoyable.

Makes you want to sing the Maple Leaf Forever as you salute!

Here are my picks for Sunday, Misfits is a classic, look at the lineup and John Houston directed too. High Sierra, Boggy at his best.  I have a game at 8:00 so I should make it home for 10:00 for Barefoot in the Park, that is a good one with a young Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. Oh no, can't miss Battle of teh Blades!

4:00 PM Misfits, The (1961)   A sensitive divorcee gets mixed up with modern cowboys roping mustangs in the desert. Cast: Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Montgomery Clift. Dir: John Huston. BW-125 mins, TV-PG, CC, Letterbox Format

The Jasper Lodge as well as some of the natural history is also highlighted. Cast: James A. Fitzpatrick C-8 mins,

There is a lot more to that story than meets the eye. Can't be discussed on Board though. Did you notice that his daughter is Stevie Cameron well known Canadian journalist and political comentator ? My Boss is Jim Dahl.

One of my favourite "old movies" is Thunder Road, stars Robert Mitchum. I also like the California Kid.

I didn't know about any of this stuff (Stevie Cameron)  Even the court marshal stuff sounded like a railroad job to me.

There's a life story that needs  to be told.

I used to fly with a guy  directing water bombers on forest fires that was a Lancaster pilot in WW2  (33 missions with a DFC)  Of course he never told me about that stuff.
I found out later.
73 years old at the time  and still tougher than I was.  They made men then.

Stevie has done all the research, including going to Washington to get classified files released to her, Canadian military documents, you name it. I'm saying about as much as I can on the internet. All that's really left is for the book to be written. As you might imagine there were many other women so probably not an easy book to write for her about her father.

Here is the family summer home on Lake Ontario, now a B&B. It's called Montrose.

Saw a good one this afternoon. Anatomy of a Murder, 1959 with james stewart, Lee remick, Ben Gazzara, had a Canadian connection too. Lee remick was something in this one a real suductress.

I miss that channel, we had it on MTS but they took it away about a year ago. Got a flyer in the mail from them a few weeks ago  and  it will be added back again on Oct. 26th in the family theme group. Looking forward to it  biggrin.gif

Yup, Jane was a hottie back then.  She had quite a career as a little sexpot until she had her great "awakening" in the 70's.  Check out Spirts of the Dead (which also starred Bridget Bardot), Barbarella, Klute.
