1966 Coupe deVille (apparently not a d'Elegance)

P.S. Looks like he ordered those factory-optional Pontiac fog lamps too. wink

The really interesting part is that late model Deville beside it is almost a dead ringer for my D'elegance sans black out windows.

Now about this fog lamp sickness, obviously it was contagious back in 66 or so confuse

55,000 miles. White Pearl. What do you suppose that beauty is worth?

That rear fender script is wrong. That's off a late model Cad. In '66 there was no D'Elegance model. There should be a "Coupe DeVille" script there in chrome. A few other squirrel things need to go, the fogs & dummy spots.

Earl is correct. D'elegance was an option level on Fleetwoods back in the day. When the last RWD Fleetwoods were discontinued after 1996, the name was transferred to the Deville in 1997. In 1997 and on there was the Deville, Deville D'elegance, Deville Concours each marketed at a different segment of the Cadillac demographic. The D'elegance was suppose to fill the Fleetwood void.

We have pros on Board who appraise for a living but I am never shy about tossing out a low ball, in this case I say $12,000 to $15,000.

Well, I don't care if it's incorrect, I like it anyway. I think I'd leave all the doo-dahs on it and wear a Panama hat while driving it. wink

According to Wiki........

The De Ville "d'Elegance" Package- In 1974, the De Ville series was available with the optional "d'Elegance" package. Similar to the Fleetwood Brougham's package of the same name, it offered a velour seating fabric, upgraded carpeting, and exterior badging. The package was available on both coupe and sedan models. The "d'Elegance" name remained with the De Ville series as a package through 1984. In 1997 it became a separate model designation for the sedan.

Bob, I've been watching the 65-66 Coupes this year and have found prices quite reasonable for a decent driver. Sub $10g's. There is a high priced one in Niagara region for over $20g that is original paint, etc. That would be a great car.

As Caddies go, this is a very nice one.  My fave though is the 62 4 door ht - conventional, not the 6 window.

No doubt Ray you've been to the fleetwood cruise in and seen Steve Plunkett's collection. Even for a non-Caddie guy this is a very impressive collection.

Normally, I don't care for whitewalls, and have no interest in w-i-d-e whitewalls.

But on that car........ hump.gif

Any more opinions on value.

a professional would have to look at it before quoting a value-but I'd guess off the record thats not a low ball Ray

It amazes me how close I get all the time.  Are any of these price guides available on line ? Is this the same thing as a black book or blue book or whatever it's called?

Snapped a photo of the name plate on my late model D'elegance. Have a look at the one on the white '66. You be the judge.

I was comparing our Roadmaster to a 94 Fleetwood the other day. I was surprised how small our Roadmaster looks. I thought there was only about 3-4" more there but I think the difference is more than that.

Wow. The wheelbase I would have guessed right but the overall length I would have missed by a mile.

Semi-related story I may have told here before.

One night years ago my brother and I were at a social gathering. We got into a friendly debate about who's car was heavier and by how much. I think his Caddy was a 61 or 62, 2 door hardtop. I think it was a 129" wheelbase vs my 67 Grande Parisienne 396 air conditioned wagon at 119".

He bet me 5 bucks his car was at least 600lbs heavier than my wagon. Seems to me when we went over to the local fertilizer dealer's scale (yes, it was about midnight!) his Caddy was 5600 on the nose, my wagon was 5040! I won 5 bucks but barely, 40 lbs to spare.

And yet now when I check it shows a 61 weighing under 5000 lbs on that site??? Hmmm.

Is there a variety of 61-62 Caddy models with some being much bigger?

Carl, I never really know what to make of wieghts published. I have only ever had my Suburban on the scales at the dump. It went in at 6,460, we unloaded all the cottage spring cleanup and left at 5,940. (Me and my son on board so 450 lbs at least)

I just looked it up on the web and here is what it says:
Curb Weight: 4820 lbs.
Gross Weight: 6800 lbs.

I have no idea how to assess this. confuse

Any other Caddy lovers out there? What's it worth in today's market?

There is no way a 62 Caddy hardtop would weigh 5600 lbs, unless the trunk was full of lead! disbelief

As Hillar said: That car has "Scarface" written all over it.

It's just a bit too gangster for me. Looks to be in good shape though, everything that's "wrong" with it looks to be easily returned to it's proper form by spending a few dollars.
