The signifigance of this photo is emence in Toronto, just look at the northbound
lane to understand what this scence of tranquilty represents at 4:30 pm on
a weekday afternoon.

First advance car appears, he was absolutely flying as can be seen by
the blurr and the sound of the Police Interceptor V8 at full song, compare
this to the other cars that follow.

Still another, can you tell how seriously Toronto's finest takes this detail.
On the bridge with me today was Police 54 Division Inspector, Major Canadian
Forces, EMS Supervisor, three cruisers & constables of Toronto's finest and countlesss Canadians.

Cortege appears. Short one today but very grateful family waving from
the limousines and everyone acknowledged us today from the lead police
and limousines to the last police cars

thanxs Ray. Kyle and i had manned our usual position in Cobourg. the Police must space out in Toronto, because they are pretty closed in when they breeze by us.

It is impressive how they keep the Don Valley Parkway clear. In the better weather they use about 18 motor men and that is quite a sight. I know that the big City takes it shots from the rest of our great land. We might not have as many on the bridges as the towns outside BUT the great respect that an empty Don Valley Parkway represents, a highway that is never empty even at 4:00 am, is monumental. For 20 minutes the Big City stands still each and every time.

65camino pointed out to me today that he watched from the traffic camera site. Here is the link for future use. Cortege usually arrives at top of Don Valley Parkway around 4:10 to 4:15 pm.

I just realized that these photos are actually sequential to mine posted above. Notice the time stamps, mine are taken at about 4:35 pm and after the bridge I was on comes Don Mills, Leaside Bridge (first traffic camera) then the Bloor/bayview exit as shown above.

Once more to the bridges.

Two more Canadians return to CFB Trenton today, having represented our great country in uniform, and dying in its service.

The bodies of RCMP Supt. Doug Coates and RCMP Sgt. Mark Gallagher will land at 2:00 pm and then proceed along the Highway of Heroes to the Chief Coroner's Office in Toronto by approximately 5:00 pm.

They wore our flag on their shoulders. They represented us while serving in Haiti. They died in service. Their families will travel with them.

I'll be on the bridge again this afternoon.

Problems in P-A-P airport have changed ETA to 4:00 pm at CFB Trenton, two hours latter than normal. I suggest that you conduct your affairs accordingly gentlemen. That will make it about 6:45 to 7:00 pm for my 10 - 20.

"Due to airport congestion in Haiti, the plane is expected to land in Trenton around 4 p.m. A repatriation motorcade for the officers is expected to pass through Northumberland County around 5 p.m. and Bowmanville around 5:30 p.m., according to the RCMP. People can call 905-697-6000 to confirm the time."

They went by Port Hope at exactly 5:40 pm.

I haven't seen that many police cars in one group since the Blues Brothers movie. Unbelievable!

My photos will verify what Bob said....we counted over 100 vehicles in this one gentleman.

It's not usually completely dark when they pass me, Ray, but tonight it was just about. I asked one of the local police officers on the bridge to hold my new torch and light up the big flag. He was pleased to do so.

Seeing that flag lit up in the dark lifted our spirits a bit. Here's one of the photos from Spanbridge on Jan. 3rd.

Back to the topic at hand, I have to postulate that as the cortege travelled along the 401 through all the different communities and municiplaities along the way that each Police force must have joined in the procession as it went. I have never seen so many different police cars in one line, different markings, different models, some stealth with grille and interior lights, Suburbans, Tahoes, Chargers, Impalas, Crown Victorias, they were all there, wouldn't surprise me if Com. Fantino was in that line, there was a completely Black Crown Victoria, no roof lights but it was lit up like a Christmas tree from the grille and windshield strobes. (I will note it in the photos) It was just an incredible display of respect.

I had our Suburban today and it has the HoH decal on it's rear window. It drew alot of attention from the local constabulary on the bridge, told them a good friend from Port Hope sent it to me. smile

The body of the latest Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan, Cpl. Joshua Caleb Baker began the journey home Saturday after a solemn ramp ceremony at Kandahar Air Field.

Seems that 67HEAVEN our loyal and patriotic symbol of national pride and respect hasn't made a post for some time so I will continue with his tradition of informing the board of the next repartiation.

The repatriation of Cpl. Joshua Caleb Baker is tentatively scheduled for Monday February 15, 2010 at 2 p.m. at CFB Trenton. It is expected to pass through Northumberland at 3 p.m. and reach Durham Region at 3:45 p.m. Watch durhamregion.com and northumberlandnews.com for coverage of the repatriation.

Thank you Bill for posting this. Very much appreciate hearing and seeing that report. There can be no two better friends in the world watching this and seeing our countries athletes compete in Vancouver together shows this. It is very touching to see the way our athletes support one another.
