Sad thing is, the story is likely true (easily verified with internet) and there likely is a need but so many scammers have made us all skeptical.

My wife who works for the bank always knows the scammers by the story they tell. The bigger story and the sadest is a scam.
They left out the dog being hit by a car.

We tend to give our donation money (aside from the tithe the church gets) to food banks, youth drop in centers etc. I realize that is not perfect either but I think there is a lot better chance of the money hitting a bulls eye than giving in to random requests where the need can not be verified.

You can only donate so much and I donate which has affected my family. The Firemans empty boot fund, cancer, heart & stroke, spca, coltis and the childrens Hospital. Then there is money for our childrens school and one kid in my girls class got cancer and we got together and donated food and money to the family.

Yes, a guy never has to look far for a good cause. In this case I can likely find more needy people closer than Florida like this one.
