Don't take this the wrong way, but, most of the time I go into that section & see something for sale that "tweaks" me, I click on the post & find out it's from KIJIJI!!! Most of my expereince with kijiji people has been "not so good" to say the least, I have my 64 Catalina on there & so far every person that has contacted me either to purchase or possible trade, has "left the planet" just disappeared, no replys to e-mails or phone calls, after making contact. Anyone else run into this, I would prefer to deal with a member that wants to sell, as I do with 2+2 & has anyone ever sold anything on kijiji with out the "jerking" around & lookers & tire kickers?? Maybe things have changed since I bought mine in 2001, made contact, arranged a time, went to see it, "dickered" loaded it on trailer, came home with it, called, a "serious buyer" I want to get another winter project, 40"s to 50's Pontiac even if I don't sell 2+2 untill spring [ I hope ] but even the people selling on kijiji don't return your calls or e-mail. There, my "rants" over. Pete

Don't be too upset! Here in South Africa we have the same problem in that prices have gone through the roof and many shysters that touch up photos and if you don't do a personal inspection end up with a big LEMON! Also those that advertise and when you want to enter into negotiations they just dissapear!
I CONTACTED A PERSON ABOUT A CAR ON KIJI ASKING IF IT WAS STILL FOR SALE. GOT A RESPONSE THAT IT WAS. ASKED HIM THEN IF HE WOULD CONSIDER SELLING WITH OUT A COUPLE PARTS AT A REDUCED PRICE. RESPONDED YES AND GAVE ME A REDUCED PRICE. ASKED THEN FOR HIS PHONE # SO I COULD CONTACT HIM AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AND ASK SOME QUESTIONS. NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM.
Find Kijiji a pain in the %^$ Most people don't respond when they are selling something.I find it useful when selling that I ask people to e-mail for questions regarding the item and only call if interested in actually coming to see the item

kijiji has a lot of flakes for sure. But it is FREE, so you get what you pay for I guess. I have sold a few thing thru it, but it's not an easy process due to all the yambags who hide behind a computer screen.
Had problems when I was selling my Denali. My add read "consider trading for a 60's Chev or Pontiac, wagon or 2 door" I was offered a 92 T-bird, a '77 GMC pickup, a Honda motorcycle, and a VW Jetta. People don't seemed to read the ads thoroughly, maybe because they spend too much time on the computor....Or they think they're such good salesmen that they can talk you into trading for something you don't want. I never responded to any of them, once you weed out the idiots, you can usually find someone who genuinely wants what your selling... BTW, I sold my Biscayne to a guy in Edmonton, who looked at my pics and then phoned me for more info. Paid a buddy of mine Extra, to deliver it to him.

I've had great luck finding /buying from kijiji. Selling stuff is another story... In all of my ads I post that if the ad is still on, then the item is still for sale. People still email asking if the item is still for sale.
I'm trying to sell some stuff on kijiji now. All the replies are questions about what I'm selling and everybody wanting more pictures. I usually reply with my phone number and tell them to give me a call. That usually separates the tire kickers from the serious buyers.

Leaving the ad on if you still have it is an excellent idea but few do it. I always email to ask if they still have it and often it is a sold item.

I take it there are two wagons in your garage? That should be a tight fit.
I haven't brought it home yet...Right now the Bel Air and my Black 60 wagon are in there....Yes its a tight fit. Shoulda measured the garage before I rented this place...LOL Sorry for stealing spots on this post... I agree, leave your ad on there and you'd be suprised how far back people will look for a certain vehicle. I hadn't pulled the ad down for the Denali and got a couple emails, two months later(after it was sold) Logged in an took my ad down.

I ran my Nova on Kijiji for the past week as a top add, got about 3,000 views. I had the max 10 pics in the add and a link to a photobucket account showing over 150 pics and a video. I also had my phone number in there, I see Kijiji has it somewhat hidden in your contact information, a potential buyer actually has to click on it to see it. That has cut down on the scammers as I didn't recieve one phone call from those types. I did also get a few e-mail asking for my number...( I guess it's too hard to find now ).
I think the kinds of mail that piss me off are the internet low ballers that don't even look at the car in person...Got one who asked " What will you take for it" ( I was thinking bank draft or cash ) but chose not to respond to him. I did respond to every other e-mail but got only one phone call from a guy who wanted it bad and even wanted me to send him the VIN so he can put insurance on it even before we talked $...slow down there. He was supposed to show up yesterday with a car trailer, haven't heard from him.
I do think the more serious buyers will call, I don't know what it is about people who avoid conversation over the phone. Sometimes I think people get lonely and just want to 'chat'.
I think for the exposure Kijiji is hard to beat, just need to weed out the internet tire kickers.
Craig, I think I got the same guy, "what will you take for it" responded to e-mail, he asked where car was, told him, that was the last I heard!!!! Pete

I don't like giving too much info as to the whereabouts of my car until they are in town, don't even like people eyeballing my garage and will show the car outside if possible, not that I am paranoid...OK...maybe just a bit ;). I have a pretty good gauge on people after a short conversation, and I insist on speaking with them prior to them showing up at my door ( I like to have their phone number too ). I told one guy I wouldnt' sell him my car because he was going to leave it outside ( no garage )...sorry...not my car, I know I shouldn't care..but c'mon. I guess that's why I still have it LOL>
All I gave him was my town's name & closest well know city [oshawa] & ya, I hear you on not letting them in the shop, too many tools, air compresser, & "eye candy" Can't be too carefull!!!!
