Normally, I wouldn't post a photo this large, but I figured you guys would want to see as much as possible.

The corner of Sumas Way and 3rd, in Abbotsford, BC. See the street sign. On one side of Sumas it's Avenue. On the other it's Road. confuse

Go here to see for yourself -
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=34588+3rd+Ave.+Abbotsford,+BC+V2S+8B7&sll=43.950918,-78.29168&sspn=0.028919,0.07699&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=34588+3rd+Ave,+Abbotsford,+Fraser+Valley+Regional+District,+British+Columbia&ll=49.00525,-122.265236&spn=0,359.980752&z=16&layer=c&cbll=49.0051,-122.265224&panoid=9aR3f9LlYoTbmjauYp0ZsA&cbp=12,219.47,,1,4.99

Here's the house that was in the photo posted above. But where's the trees? It's across the road from the cars on the lot.
EDIT: I just found the trees and bushes. They're way across the road from the house. The car was sitting in a business parking lot so the trees were between the car and Sumas Way in the photo.

However, the postal code in the ad is several blocks down the street at a railway crossing. evileye

Buyer beware.

If you look closely at the rear of that Caprice, the bumper is crooked, and there's a piece of trim that comes around at the top of the tail light, that stops. If I remember right, that trim should continue down the side of the car, and there's no holes for it. Plus those tailpipes have to go as well.
I'm thinking it's a quickie repaint that might not look so good in a few months.
Actually, after looking at it again, the car looks pretty straight. It would be interesting to go and have a look at it, but I'm flying back to Fort McMurray tomorrow.
Situated where it is, I'm thinking those are Washington state cars that have been imported for resale.

I seen the cars today they do exist, the caprice actually looked pretty good from what I could see through the chain link, the 69 acadian looks to be a "3 dressed up as a 9" looks like lots of bondo and bush paint but the caprice did look pretty decent, couldn't get inside the compound and up close though so don't quote me on anything, if I had the room and time I think It might have come home with me or maybe even one of those monte's I have always had a soft spot for the early Monte carlo's

I live in Perth, Ontario and just recently purchased a 1966 Chev Caprice from this Abbotsford fellow based on his ad in the Antique Auto Trader. He told me that the car was "in very good condition for the year with no mechanical issues of any kind, very well maintained"

I paid $3100 plus shipping and HST. The car arrived and it had most certainly not been maintained and the frame was totally rotted out. It had been previously patched as well.

The car is still registered in someone else's name - it hasn't been transferred to mine or to his as far as I can tell.

I had been taken!

I have not been able to speak with him about the matter as he won't call me back when I leave messages. I have found one other person in Orangeville that he did the exact same thing to.

Do not trust this seller, he is not a registered or licensed dealer, he is simply out to take your money.

Feel free to PM me if you wish to discuss. I can't get my own money back but I also don't want to see anyone else get burned down the road.

THIS GUY HAS BEEN ADVERTISING IN THE OLD CAR TRADER FOR YEARS. HAVE YOU CONTACTED THE OLD CAR TRADER? I DON'T KNOW IF IT WOULD HELP AT ALL, BUT I DO KNOW THAT HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS ENCOURAGES READERS TO REPORT DEAD-BEAT ADVERTISERS SO THEY CAN MONTITOR THEM AND PULL THEIR ADS IF THEY GET TO MUCH BAD FEED BACK. MAYBE THE OLD CAR TRADER WOULD DO THE SAME. I REALLY FEEL FOR YOU! THESE TYPES ARE THE DISEASE OF THE OLD CAR HOBBY.furiousfurious

This is a case where it really pays to have someone local look at the car. Even if you have to pay the guy a couple of hundred bucks it can save you a lot of $$ in the long run. Sorry to hear about your experience. It sucks that there are people like this out there.
