Stick On Poppies

How did Tim Horton's fly under the radar of the tademark Royal Canadian Legion Police? The staff were all wearing stick on poppies on their collars and caps yesterday and today. We already heard this week how the Legion seized unauthorized poppy pins and destroyed poppy cookies. Just wondering how Tims got an exemption from this. Anyone know?

This was my first Nov 11'th  in 23 years where I wasnt in uniform, and the poppies were always an issue, as they blew off, punctured waterproof clothing and are flat out dangerous while working. They moved from our headdress to thr epaulettes then the lapels, and every spot creates a new challenge.   People arent quick to slam the poppy for obvious reasons. Our legions need to be funded by the taxpayer (in my opinion). People can still donate and support our legions and I always will, but the commercial monopoly on remembrance symbols is not required.  I stand behind our vets 100% and if they want to 'own' the poppy, its the least we can do, but I curse the bastard who questions my loyalty based on what poppy I wear.

Lastly, to the people who destoyed the cenitaph in Fredericton 2 days before remembrance day, I wouldnt brag about this one. There is a country looking for you.

I guess it's the same exemption the Mint got a few years ago when they made those poppy quarters.shrug.gif

Well I found my answer. Legion officially sanctioned stickers. Click here Seems the Legion and Tim Horton's have a good corporate relationship.

CBC Story here.
