Thanks for the votes of confidence. Those tail bezels were beyond my description how tarred with crud they were, and I loved the natural look, but the paint will look so much better to me. I have no intention of ever showing the car, but am trying to keep to original. The underside of the hood was stripped with gel stripper then abrasive disks...the kind that feel like a sponge dipped in hardener. Very labor intensive and oil residue baked in. Today I dismantled the front bumper, everything is in good condition, so I expect to have it back together in 3 days. I wont work on anything else until it is reassembled for fear of losing any parts or forgetting how it all came apart. I havent a clue what color to paint it. A green so dark that it is almost black sounds good, or maybe the original pewter. ANyway....back to the dungeon as soon as I get the wire from my stripping wheel out of my heel again.

The work planned for this winter is very close to completion. The car has 7 coats of paint now, and is being wet sanded for a few more. I have exceeded my expectations. The early spring is really tempting me to cut corners and start makin tracks on the streets. The little  blanket of snow this morning helps. I expect to have it reassembled and mostly cured for 1 Apr. The interior needed very little and is done. The trunk is all there, but needs attention, and the engine bay is original and also needs cleaning up, but I'll do those after I enjoy it for a while. It is not the original color, the vinyl top is gone,  and pictures would look sooo much better in a week or two, so I'll wait to celebrate then. For those interested in seeing it, there will be lots of hi-def pictures and another short video posted soon.

Its officially driving weather today, and I had to try it out.  Still a couple of days away from being done, but I had to post a few pics anyway. I will post hi-def pics and close ups including the interior. All the trim is still off, and the valance, and a list of odds and ends, tape here and there, but you get the idea.  Keep in mind the paint hasnt been polished or waxed yet, and its dirty from my little spin.

Looks sweet 'Stone, really nice! Glad to see you're following it through to completion.
What colour is it, looks to be a Greeny Grey of some sort? I guess the skirts are history now?
Base clear?

Cheers, Mark

Thanks man! I am STOKED. Couldnt sleep right, gotta finish. I like to call it cypress green on a black base. In my garage, it looks black. It is darker green than it appears in the pics, the 'reveal' pics will show a few in un-natural light as well. One rear window quit, and I need in there to install roof rail weatherstrip. I'm hoping its just the switch.  I didnt even paint the skirts yet,  I should for when I get old. Thanks again for the comments. The house doesnt look NB in the front yard....well maybe the driveway...but sure does in the back! (Thats me)

Nice car (you put a ton of work into it in no time!), and a nice back yard. What kind of fish are there?

Gravel driveways are scarce, and at a premium here!biggrin And brick houses ... well we won't even go there!

Thanks for the comments. The comments and advice from CP have kept me going through the winter. I neglected the world for 5 months to get it done. My ignorance gave me the courage to start, and my stubbornness made me finish. I had no idea what I was getting into, I had NO experience working on cars and have learned a ton, and donated blood sweat and tears. I exceeded my expectations and am happy with the result. It is not Barrett-Jackson quality resto, but it is mine.  I will do the trunk and engine bay on the fly this summer and I will be on the lookout for a project for winter 2010-11. GTO or Beaumont would be nice. I still have the good pics and video coming. I'm off to solve the rear window failure.

Time to get some CP advertising on her!

Hey Pascal,

The backyard pond has chub and speckled trout. The trout are stocked every 2 years, it makes an awesome breakfast. I share the pond with a beaver, a bear, and 3 deer. It was the selling feature for me. I just bought the place when I retired from the CF in 2008. It gives me balance from dealing with the morons that we must deal with from time to time.

As for the speed of the project, I was highly motivated, semi-retired, semi-retarded, and free heated garage space. The wife was willing to handle the household, and my brother helped anytime I wanted. Thats what made it possible.
Thanks to everybody, and hopefully we bump into each other this summer.
