Was hanging around the shop today and snapped a pic on my phone of this rare beauty that stopped by. 1964 Sunbeam Tiger 260 V8 mint California car. You should have heard the sound of this car, really stout. A real beauty.

These were more money than a Corvette when new. My brother has a 67 with the 260. A 289 was also available in 67. As the story goes, the company that made them got bought out by Chrysler. Their 318 would not fit and they were not going to sell a car with a ford engine. 67 was the last year for them.
Got chased down the Malahat on Vancouver Island by one of those (289) in my ramair 69 gto. could NOT shake him loose. We hit the lights on the way into Victoria, says he didn't even get out of 3rd.

Based on the car I saw yesterday, I'd be inclined to believe him.
These came out when I was in college, beautiful cars, the Sunbeam Alpine with its gorgeous lines, and a light-weight leading-edge (for its time) American V8, yeah buddy! Unfortunately I am pretty sure Max's car was the Alpine. Sorry about that Chief.
But for sure this car was the forerunner of the 427 Cobra, one of the undisputable all-time over-kill hot-rod sports cars. (Did I mention I raced against one of those once at Road America?)
After my 56 is done, I must admit the temptation is to look for one of these Tigers, stick a 347 stroker SB F*rd in it ...
