WTB: Motor Mounts

Need a set of frame/motor mounts to drop a BBC in my 67 Beaumont. Anyone have any? Thanks, Kevin

I see in your avatar it's a small block now. I'm pretty sure you can keep the same engine/frame mounts and just put the engine mounts from your current small block onto the big block.

Someone who knows A bodys better may come here to confirm or deny that.

I'm sorry, maybe I should have sent this as a PM. Someone who is selling items that he is looking for may be upset if I cut them out of a sale.

If this was not an appropriate reply in this thread I will remove it.

Good advice is always appropriate!! No one should want to sell something to someone on here if its not needed...

Frame and engine mounts from the SBC will work... (the ones that are different are on the 68-69 307 mounts)... i've put a BBC in my car with the SBC peices from my 327/350... you could update to bbc engine mounts which have an interlocking tab for added strength...

now I'm curious, I was under the impression that the frame mounts stood a little taller for the BBC, and now what is the difference for the 307 mounts ,, I also read , they are different . last time I checked...a 307 was still a SBC??

respectfully waiting for the experts to chime in...!!!

From scanning Team Chevelle and other various sources on the net, my conclusions are that 64-67, there are seperate mounts for the SB and BB. For the 68-72 SB and BB use the same mounts however there are two different kinds of mounts. You just have to have the right configured set. If you have the tall frame mount, then you need the short motor mount and the other set is short frame mount, tall motor mount. This way the hood clearance would always be correct. Here's a link from Year One, look under the chevelle area, http://www.yearone.com/yodnn/tech/TechFAQ/EngineFAQ/MotorMounts101/tabid/399/Default.aspx Now I'm more confused cause of what ak said about what he had done, I should be able to use the mounts off my 327. I guess I'll have to try it and see what happens.

In 69 the interlocking motor mount came out and was used on the larger engines 350 and big blocks but because it was thicker it required a shorter frame mount to keep it the same hight. But they did not change the 307 frame mount. As it his higher the old style thinner motor mount was used. If you use the thicker interlocking style mount on a old style frame mount the engine will sit higher.

But he can unbolt the current engine side mounts, bolt them on to a big block and plop in the big block and it all works, correct?

I know I've done it on B body, just want to make sure it works for A cars. I don't see how it can't work.

Thats correct, looks like ak has done this before. I think what confuses people is that the 67 and under BB and SB frame stool mounts have different part numbers but when you see pics of the two the look the same. What the difference is who knows. But ak has proven that it can be done with sb mounts.

I've seen the two side by side. The BB frame pad has a little ridge all the way around the perimeter, I assume to beef it up a bit.

I had never thought to compare heights but always figured as long as the engine side and frame side were from the same application it would be fine, as you say.

Tried my 327 mounts last night, they work great. Looks like everything should line up perfect. Kevin

I would have bet money on that one!... but it would have been a bit unfair, i just did that swap last year! i did some research on TChevelle as well... i'd have to go back through the forums...there were pictures of the two side by side, i do believe that the sbc were just slightly taller... but were talking an 1/8 or something...

2 tips: it is difficult to fit any aftermarket drivers side valve cover under the factory size brake booster, so you will have to install the engine with this valve cover off then try to slide the valve cover on.... and if you are going to use headers do not use Summit headers for the 67 chevelle, they are a universal fit and i needed to do some torching/bending to get the passenger side to fit... the price was right, but i'd pay $50 more for hedmans or if you have deeper pockets go to hookers or others for a better fit the first time out!

I am building a 496 for my 65 right now and have been giving this engine stand/mount some thought. My main concern is clearance to the stock flat hood on my 65. Research has shown that you can use the small block stands for sure but I never found anything completely positive about the height difference between the bb and sb stands.
I want to run an intake like the rpm or stealth.
