while i had the paint out to do the 454 for the 2+2 figured i would give a coat to the 427 for the acadian. you can't tell but i placed the quadrajet i got from ray for fitment mockup purposes.

Wouldn't Rarechev want the '69 emblem (427)?

thanxs for the words of encouragement. i didn't realize how much i had bit off when i took on this project. i try not looking at the work involved in the whole project but set myself up for little taskings and give thanxs when each task is complete. such as this week was headers and carburetor rebuild. working on motor mount right now and hoping to have all brackets on the engine and running by the end of this week coming.

the latest on the saga is that i got new headers but they just touched the steering box. lifting the engine 1/2 an inch the headers cleared nicely. i had seen a set of lower frame mounts for a b-body at rarechevs and noticed they were 1/2 an inch higher. i figured maybe small block/ big block differences, this should work. i installed the new lowers and then tried to lower the engine. not happening they are 1/4 in wider in the saddle. okay whats up because right from 283 to 454 all used the same mount. i went to napa and started going thru the books noticed 307 uses a different mount and its 2 5/8 wide not 2 3/8 wide like the rest. so i get the 307 uppers which are a pretty shallow unit and install them on my 454 and drop over the 307 lowers. what the hell they have the same installed heights as my originals. i pulled all the 307 stuff and went back to original. guess i have to dent the headers. so i'm figuring the 307 is the only anominally i've seen so far. you can replace the 307 with any other gm block of that family as long as you use 307 upper mount.

Tests your patience doesn't it. Watched my next door neighbour doing a swap on his Ford and every way he turned some little thing was catching him. In some ways he is more patient than me but a few nights he just went in early from the garage, talking to himself.

thanxs to seventy2plus2 i have pulleys and brackets for crank, alternator and power steering also he let me know a good source for the proper power steering pump. i've only installed for fitment purposes. i have to pick up a hose for the power steering and one bolt for the lower bracket. i got a good score at bills truck last week with a 7 blade clutch fan. don't know if i'll need a spacer till the rad is installed. i also lucked out at the wrecking yard today. i grabbed the lower bolt and spacer for the alternator off the 70 lt1 thats in the jeep, for fitment and to bring with me for size purposes. whats funny is that the new bolt and spacer are the right one for the jeep and the one off the jeep is the proper one for the 2+2.

Dale at Nos had mentioned about the seat patterns and i thought mine were original. NOT! looks like my front buckets have been replaced. i have a pic from hillars 2+2 for comparison

not a good pic but it does give me something for reference.

The upholstery in Hillar's Green & Gold 2+2 was also redone, and is not 100% correct either.  I will take some photo's of my Gold 2+2 which has original upholstery in very good condition.   (the upholstery in my convertible was also redone in the early 80's, but not correct either).

well it's only taken me a little over a year, but finally I've got some photo's of the front and rear seat from my low mileage 70 2+2 hardtop.   You'll see the stitching is a bit different than the green car.  If you get someone to do your upholstery, you can use these as guides.

i really didn't like my made from scratch wheel wells. they would have been okay but i'm redoing them. but first i want to put the door on the body to make sure the body lines are okay

2013-02-07 001.JPG

got these generic aftermarket quarter patch that have the same wheelwell lip but the rest isn't the same but since all i want to use is that area we are golden

2013-02-07 006.JPG

thats a aftermarket outer wheelwell sitting on top for a 65-66 impala so you know i'll have some finesing to do
