You're making me feel better because I never did sell my 66, but worse because you have truly lived by owning those!!!!!  (As they say..."It's better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all...")

Time to drop a crate motor in your new SD!

rare opportunity for someone to purchase one of these. I'm sure if you were looking to purchase you wouldn't find one.

I think I'd leave the "overseas" thing out of the ad-makes it sound shady even though its not.

David has a nice rare piece here in the right colors-come on guys-someone step up to the plate.

Carl, feel your pain ... but on the upside you did get to own them back in the day. I can only dream of owning a big block vette; and from the pics you posted you had some neat cars.

Yes thank you  I was blessed!
I did not golf, smoke, drink, boat, vacation, hunt, fish, bowl, etc..
It was 50-60 hours of work and the rest was CARS CARS.....and I'm not done yet.

wink.. I have a almost video like memory, and can remember that 396 red SD396
Beaumont!!       I out ran a new white L82 Corvette, south of Goderich!             Beaumont would easily bury the needle.!     I remember it, at the drags in St Thomas!   put 22 passes on it in the morning, and went home!.    I remember changing the lifters, they were so mushroomed out, I had to make a tool from threaded rod to pry them out!    I remember going back to work, one day and running it to the top of 2nd gear and tried to stop, to get in work entrance, and power drums would not stop it...and the crowd around it at Daytona Beach! and the no posi burn outs!! It was a bad ass old car in the day!!  I drove it like I stole it!!!  and I did, at $2950.00 with new paint and top..
and the 427-425 Corvette  Bought it at (a house behind) the Country Kitchen drive in at Brantford.. Fellow wanted $5200.00 for it. He would not unlock it, until I showed him a pocket full of cash.. Sidepipes! Wow  He took me for a little drive  I liked it!  He stopped it, out in the country, and said: Do you want to see what it will do?..  He revved it up to 4000 and dumped the clutch, and the car went nuts!!!  It would not move ahead (was moving sideways) in 1st (it was spinning the Yokomhoma tires so hard!)  back off, hit 2nd gear! pulls to 85-90 in 2nd! and then 3rd gear, buy now, we were flying!!  pulls to 115 mph in 3rd, and then backs off     I was in LOVE!   I drove it 100mph all the way to Clinton  My head was splitting from the side pipes...  Car was so fast, you would pull up behind a car, peak out, and see a car coming , AND THEN PULL OUT AND GO ANYWAY!!!!  I drove it all summer and sold it for 6000.00  Wow  made 800.00 profit
and then, the orange Z28  I owned it twice   in  1980 and in 1985    and on and on
how about the 307 Ventura II with 3:08 gears, a Muncie and Quad carb, and headers and Corvair mufflers beating a 440 4 speed Super Bee 3 out of 5 runs on the Trans Canada in N.B
and the silver 66 Corvette Coupe with 327-350HP and 4:56 gears   you could not lean ahead, in the pass seat in 1&2    and on and on  C2

Must be nice.  Many of my auto memories are limited to my '74 Valient with a 225 slant 6 (I think 105 hp).  Did a brake stand once in a puddle (followed by a stall once it hit dry pavement...)

If this were a nostalgia thread, I'd tell some stories of the amazing adventures I've had in mine during the last 42 years.

I'll get around to it some day............maybe after I've got all the remaining adventures out of my system.
wink

I always hear  people from Canada mention that these cars should stay in Canada.
I cannot believe someone hasn't snatched this car up. I realize the economy is bad but man I would think someone who knows and understands what this car is would buy it. No Canadian dealers interested?  This isn't meant to be a negative post. I just can't believe this car hasn't sold. In the states people seem a bit wary of these cars as they really don't understand what they are. Has the market dropped so far that a Big Block SD 396 Convert with all sorts of history and totally intact isn't worth  26k? Maybe my cars aren't worth as much as I thought. Maybe it's a sign of the times. Wonder what a 325hp 396 Chevelle in similar condition would bring. This car deserves more respect.  Come on Canadians , someone step up to the plate !!!!

A point that came up the last time this car was for sale.  See:
http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=118110&p=3&topicID=29713062

I know that someday, I for one, will regret not being in a postition to pick it up.  (I know this because I'm regretting it right now...)

I've been thinking that this car and few other hardtops not selling are exposing the value of these cars... its a shame, super rare but not worth more than chevelles -even though much less production... you would think someone would snap this one up... starting bid is $26k but i dont think thats where the seller will let it go at... it doesn't really make sense to me when the black shell of car that went on ebay a few years back went for something like $11k ...and no original engine!!

a 325hp chevelle in driver quality would probably be mid-$20s and a nice frame off 350hp car would be $60s ...so i guess starting on this one at mid 30s and then doing a frame off would put you knee deep in no time!

Hopefully David will forgive me for chiming in dollar wise-

I spoke with David before he posted it this time-he said he turned down $25,000 last time-best offer over that buys the car-

so Andrew if you would like to own the car at $26,000 there were no other bidders-give him a call- and or anyone else that wants it .

Andrew is right $10,000 for a rusted stripped shell on E-bay
or Bill Brown's old yellow one on e-bay a few years ago for $20,000

heres what is described as a "solid" "drivable" "complete" mostly not messed with extremely low production piece at what in recent years was an affordable target price.

Thanks guys for all the positive comments it means a lot to me and for the life of me I can't understand, not even 1 bid, crazy. Anyhow the car has to go by Friday, I have 1 person from the States that will buy it (Ken you know who I am talking about) and he is at the equivalent of roughly $24,000.00 Cdn, if anyone in Canada can match it and complete the sale by Friday it is theirs. I really don't want to sell it but I have more important responsibilties to take care of like family. Who knows maybe I will be able to pick up that original owner 1967  427/425-L72, M22 CHEETAH that I know about someday. I have been pretty lucky when it comes to rare cars in the past. So guys please put out the word and let's find a good loving home for this beautiful car. Thanks.
