Chevelles have a bigger market, and a nice frame off straight car and a 4spd for $52k... the beaumont will take alot of money and parts to get to that condition... its right at the tipping point price and condition wise... i've been thinking about that car alot in the past week, and i believe that in a lot ways being so rare hurts the value (and canadian only) as the 'mystique' and marketing isnt there for these cars compared to chevelles...

these hardtops that are 'listed' at a price, its one thing to list a car, another to sell it.
that yellow convertible in CA has been for sale for over a year! a yellow convert in BC isnt moving at $18k (granted these are not sd's) also for over a year...

most cars will sell on build quality primarily and a few others will command big $ because of rarity and desirability (ie LS5 vs LS6 1970 chevelle)... its hard to get into a project that deep that early on...

when Barret-Jackson-itis is off the TV the real values of cars is tested in the market place at selling prices...

I suspect the main issue right now would be the availability of $25k among the people who know and love Beaumonts.
From the description of the car that I read, this is a driver quality car in need of an engine rebuild. The market is very soft and some of us have already picked up something that we thought was a great deal.
There is some number that would cause some of us to cash in another investment to buy this one, but I suspect the price point is too rich with the nervousness we are feeling about the general state of the economy.

Whenever I see some of the Australian Mopars I always think "interesting" but kind of looks like a kit car or a back yard mod.  As much as I hate to say it, many outside of Canada may have the same view of the Beaumonts?  (Pretty sure they don't feel that way re the Canadian made Chevelles etc.)

The chevelle market loves the canadian built or imported ones, since when they dropped the SS model and made it an option, 69 on, it is really easy to clone and hard to verify, unlike with our GM paperwork... I agree absolutely that americans generally dont understand the cars (and that hurts value)... i've had mine called "canadian gto", "canadian chevelle" and even "some sort of mopar product" ...that one had me puzzled!hahaha!

there are lots of people with deep pockets that collect rare cars and speculate, especially in this economy. if that car were a chevelle with that rarity/pedigree it would have been long gone at a higher price... unfortunately (i guess?) is that some owners (like the blue 4sp non-numbers convert) look at the chevelle value and then add to their estimate of their cars because they are rarer... the market will tell the real story...

i really did expect this red one to be gone on friday...

When I lived in Vancouver ('86 and '87) we used to take my '66 down to the Seafair (or was it called Seafest?) in Seattle. At the drags one day a fella said "look a Beaus**t!" At several times throughout the day there were small groups that would gather round and look at it.

One thing that's occured by following up on this thread is that I now like the '67's more than the '66's. (Something that I didn't want to happen.)

The sale potential probably looks something like this based on people from this site.

$1,000. = 1300
$10,000. = 130
$15,000. = 13
$20,000. = 1.3
$25,000. = 0.3

Just my 2 cents worth

original drivetrain,colour/interior

dont want to sound like barrett Jackson, lol

if you really wanted one how many chances do you get, they dont come up for sale to often.

im sure Helmut and bill are keeping theirs

if i had $25000 , could flip my cougar fast ,this is the car id buy,no questions

deal of the year

I agree the car is the right car with the right colors/paperwork/numbers/options with a ton of potential-I have been promoting it for David since the day he said he wanted to sell it.

but

I don't think (correct me) any convertibles SD or not have sold for $75,000 and I also don't believe any hardtops SD or not have sold for $50,000, if anyone thought it was even remotely in the 50-$75,000 range there would be a ton of guys on it at the $24,000 its offered at-I'm just wondering why with all the hype nobody has stepped up to the plate-maybe your right its underpriced or maybe Andrew is right nobody was to spend a quarter and then restore it.

Beaumonts have always been interesting in the marketplace-I honestly must say that when Bill called me a couple years ago looking for a ragtop and willing to spend $40,000 I was surprised and so was everyone I networked that request to.

heres some of my experience:

the deepwater blue 67 SD396 sold at $9600 U.S. (about $15,000 CDN at the time) not an easy sell but did go fairly quick-the new owner painted it and did some detail it was advertised for 5 years @ $30,000 U.S.

the Ash Gold 68SD396 sold at $20,500 taking a lot of advertising and effort-taking it south and other swap meets-I believe Legendary got $28,000 for it-recent no sale on e-bay by the present owner

The blue bench seat 67 SD396 sold at $15,500 took a ton of advertising and effort but once it was sold I had several back up buyers-I believe David said he recently sold it in the high teens

The red/red 67 SD396 hardtop project sold through e bay at $6000 but was marketed well-I recall John suggesting its value at $4000

The yellow one that Mark has I believe Legendary wanted $35,000 for but it was a frame off restored car and thats Legendary.

Shawn bought the blue 67SD396 4-speed 736 car from Helmut-I believe it was $20,000, Shawn was the only one interested it seems

Helmut quoted $25,000 for the yellow one a couple months ago when he wanted to purchase David's

I think Werner has quoted between $65,000 and $75,000 for his but then changes his mind-

Then theres the project 67SD396 that had no engine and was a basket out in N.S. that sold via e-bay at $11,000

The Chevelles you have posted are restored cars-I think there would be quite a few SS396 Chevelle rags that could be done at 25 and under-

I'd say the "right" person should step up to the plate where the red one is priced-I've had at least three people call me about this car-but yet nobody has bought it as of yet. It has now been advertised to the potential buyers-just have to wait until someone gets their hands out of their pockets I guess-I wonder what price they would want to "jump" at it at ?

Taking all of this into consideration, what do you feel is the current market value of this car?...

Its worth what one will pay-so even if its worth the current posted price presently nobody is purchasing it so like you said in a previous post it'll have to be made "more attractive" or maybe someone will step up ya never know-these cars are almost always a tough call-if someone wants one of these to restore this would be it !

I liked the math in that statement (had me thinking for 1/2 a second) but then thats why were in the mess we're in. A loan shark would be even worse.
