RE: 1967 SD 396 'vert- For Sale- not mine

You guys do know that the Black on Black SD Convertible shown here is a clone, mind you an absolutely beautiful one and when I am ready to own another 67 SD Rag and I am pretty sure I won't find a real one, I am going to build a clone and put every available option on it.

There's a 67 SD hardtop in my area that was cloned way back when from a Custom. Some of the Winnipeg guys know of it too.

427
4 speed
12 bolt posi
GTO tach and gauges
Air
Tilt wheel
Wood wheel
AM/FM
Reverb
Headrests
Tinted glass
Disc brakes
Rear sway bar
Roof rail reading lamps
Map light mirror
Reclining passenger seat
Power seat
Power windows
Power trunk
Power antenna

I hear the car has been sitting outside though and needs a total restoration again. Too bad. Sure makes for a neat Beaumont with all those toys. Black on black with a black vinyl top too!

If your going to buy/build another-you might want to consider Carl's $100 a week senerio for five years-its real and you already have it.

OK, I can come up with $100 a week for the next five years-I can give you post dated cheques-I don't have steady employment and haven't for six years now but I have no debt only utilities and never missed a payment when I did have debt.

I've been following this thread and can hardly believe that this car hasn't sold. I just watched a 66 Beaumont SD sell on Barrett-Jackson for $25,000. It was a butternut yellow hardtop with black vinyl roof. Very nice car but not as rare as this 67 convertible and in my mind, not near as desirable. I just don't understand........

If I had room for more toys, this car would be mine. The price is right as far as I'm concerned. With that said, anyone interested in a 2001 WS6 Trans Am convertible or an Impala SS (94 or 95)?

I always hear  people from Canada mention that these cars should stay in Canada.
I cannot believe someone hasn't snatched this car up. I realize the economy is bad but man I would think someone who knows and understands what this car is would buy it. No Canadian dealers interested?  This isn't meant to be a negative post. I just can't believe this car hasn't sold. In the states people seem a bit wary of these cars as they really don't understand what they are. Has the market dropped so far that a Big Block SD 396 Convert with all sorts of history and totally intact isn't worth  26k? Maybe my cars aren't worth as much as I thought. Maybe it's a sign of the times. Wonder what a 325hp 396 Chevelle in similar condition would bring. This car deserves more respect.  Come on Canadians , someone step up to the plate !!!!

whats better than 1 red 67 convertible?   2 !!  come on Bill   pull the trigger...biggrin

I have been watching  this thread for a while, now and dreaming of owning the car, just as I assume many other members have been doing the same. The question  I have is how much would this car have sold for a couple of years ago (fully restored) , and how much would it likely sell for today if it had the frame off restoration, that it deserves? Also what would it likely cost to do the restoration. I have a feeling that adding in the cost of restoreing it would make it financially not feesable.

I have gotten the estimates and you are looking at $35,000.00 complete for the resto, add in the price of the car and you are at $60,000.00. Is the car going to be worth $60,000.00 right now? Maybe but the people who have been interested in buying this car from me are the ones who will probably never sell it.

I have a 69 1/2 Trans Am clone that I have put in at least $80,000.00 and it is only 95% complete, if I were to sell it when finished I might only get $40K-50K for it but it is not for sale it is for my brother.

Anyone in the business knows that you never get the money that you have invested back out of the car, it is a labour of love for the hobby so be the lucky one to buy it then restore it and enjoy it for years to come.

Here is one for you Carl.  If you want more, I can make it happen but I don't want to be selling my car on this thread.  We are trying to sell a Beaumont here wink

Not a chance my friend. Not a chance. I am about ready to call it all off. If it has not sold very soon it will be off the market again. Time is of the essence so all those interested parties out there don't take this opportunity for granted.
