Ya Dave ,I said alot more than that when we peeled the "crap" off the side. One bright side of this is that the body's going to be real solid when done!!! I can't wait to get at the mechanical part or this, still haven't decided on what pwr. train to go with, "cheby" or put a "real" pontiac engine in there, Cheby will be cheaper, but Pontiac mill will "blow" people away!! I have the dash complete now, picked up speedo in W. V & all guages now in custom bezel & have made up wiring harness for dash. Picked out the wheels I want from "Summit Auto" as well as Comp Cam set up, induction & gear drive for cam. Here comes another 'road trip" to Ohio as I can't beat their prices here even with the trip & exh. on the $$$

Nice. How well do the front wheels fit in the wells?

When I did a frame swap on my 49' Fleetline, I used a shortened S10 frame because it was the only one narrow enough to have the proper front track. I did channel mine about 5" however so I needed the clearance to be able to turn the front wheels.

Rick, stated earlier that the frt whl. openings were cut out & moved forward to line everything up, other than that the Olds- Monty chassis works out OK

Pete are you trying to con us into beleaving that you are not a body man. Ha you can not fool me, you are more than a body man. You are a body man and a magic man. If you are not a body man then what the hell are the rest of us poor saps on this site. Fabulous work brother and continued good luck on your ride. I gave up working on rusty cars a long time ago, about 1981. Like you i love the mechanical aspect of restoration and assembly as well as detail work. I really have to give you tons of credit because i would tackle that much rust. Continued success brother. George.

Got the other 1/4 done & all the floors are in!!!  Brought it back home from other shop where the MIG welder was better than my little flux core that I borrowed. That does it, I'm getting a "gas" mig ASAP what a treat to weld with, no comparrison!!  Now the fun begins, skim coat the metal work & get started on the mechanical work, thats the part I "really" like!!!!

I posted these in the garage post, but thought I'd put them over here in case some of you don't "do" the recent posts section. Put the skinney's on the Torque Thrust D's for the gasser look, have 8 1/2'a matching mags for rears but no RUBBER yet. Car is up on "poor Man's Hoist" so I won't have to bend as far to finsh off the 1/4's & I can do undercarrige work as well. Need to put in axle seals, shoes, hold kit & emm. brake hardware + drums, as nothing is one side & 1 drum on rt. side & who knows what's inside the drum??? Going to work my way forward, & leave the power plant for last, so I don't rush to get it on the road. I can still move it around with the 305 thats in it!!! Last pic is of the rear seat I got at Jackson's Auto Wreckers in Kendall. Wasn't cheap by any means, but "they had it & I needed it"  No deals to be had there but if you need something they likely have it, only open on Thurs. now till they "CLEAN the yard out. Asked when & was told as soon as $$$ scrap goes up it's all gone!! Family wants nothing to do with it, sell the land off after the cars are gone, 1200 + cars & trucks are said to be in there, I didn't count them but theres alot!!!!
