December 2009 Feature Car

For every type of collector car there is the "Hope Diamond". The model with the super low production numbers or all the desirable options. For us '69 Pontiac owners, the "Hope Diamond" is the 2+2 with the 390hp 427 and 4 speed transmission. With only 14 such diamonds produced, the odds of finding a nice one are pretty slim. Well Canadian Poncho fans, one such example exists and David Woch is the lucky owner. Dave's is the second owner of this 44000 original mile 2+2. He purchased the car in 1993 in Vancouver Island. Finished in Cameo Ivory with black interior, this 2+2 sports not only the L36 390hp transmission, M20 4 speed and 3:31 posi-traction rear end, but it also has the optional clock, speed alert (good idea!) and a dealer installed hood tach. Take a good look at these photos. It's very unlikely we'll see another one this nice!

I believe I took pictures of that car at POCI, likely in Michigan in 2000.

My apologies to the owner. I drooled all over it for a long, long time!

One of the other 13 is/was here in Manitoba. I saw it some 25 years ago, but have no idea where it went. It was not in great shape but not rusty.

Beautiful, beautiful car David.

There's also the one from Selkirk that was sold and went who-knows-where and the famous one also from Ontario that's pretty much broken in two. That makes 4. I wonder if there are any others out there?

I've forgotten the Selkirk car. The one I saw was triple black. Is that the one?

The car was parked beside me in the 2+2 class on show day POCI 2000 in Grand Rapids MI.   It's a beautiful car.   It seems a lot of these big block Candian Pontiac's come from western Canada.

Wow !!! great looking ride.  I have the buckets and auto shifter from a 69 427 car that I got from a freind in Garson Manitoba. He got a 69 Pontiac 427 car a while back and stripped it for parts. Not sure of the model but he still has the 427. Next time I see him I will see if he remembers what model it was. He is a camaro guy and big old Pontiacs are not his thing. He just wanted the 427. I think the car went to the wreckers.no.gif

There's a green with green/gold interior 69 2+2 427 4 speed being restored in Edmonton right now. I don't have many facts, it was e-mailed to me with pictures of a 69 396/325 monaco orange Chevelle for sale. I can try and find more info, or at least see if the owner is aware of this site.
