New Camaro OR New Challenger?

I travel the 401 daily around the Ingersoll/London area and see the truckloads of new cars heading to the border all day. I would say so far the new Camaros have caught up and now are passing the Dodge Challengers. The Dodges have been around longer and are one of my favorites so I keep an eye out for them. But the new Chevy is looking pretty good and has received positive reports. The Dodge has beat out Toyota Prius in customer satisfaction, so fair to say both new "Pony cars" are pretty good. So whats your choice?

I think I mentioned, talking to a long time Chevy friend (has a 69Z28)  and He bought a new 2010 Mustang GT Premium Glass roof... He said a new Camaro (equipped the same) was 50,000.00 and the Mustang was 35,000.00.. He said he would pay 5g more for a Camaro, but not  15   From what I have read in tests since, the Challenger seems to be a favorite (not from drag test but geneal driving) Make mine a Orange RT 5.7 hemi stick....

I'd need to drive both before I could decide.

I was at a party last weekend and if you could imagine I met one guy who was the plant production manager for one of those cars and another who was a salesman at for the other. Crazy.

I learned that the Challenger is a low demand low production vehicle and that Chargers for Police use south of the Border can't be built fast enough. A new Charger and 300 are coming and are reported to be amazing. Camaro's are in high demand and another shift has been added to keep up with US demand. Dealers apparently will not even let people test drive a Camaro without a signed deal and deposit. I must have hit it off pretty well because there is an SS at a Toronto dealer that I can go and drive just a phone call away if I want.

Almost forgot to say, 65Camino and I went to test drive a Challenger 6.1 about a year ago. Crazy, the car didn't even go straight when you step on the gas, it was hard to drive with the tail end wagging plus I didn't really fit inside it, my neck was sore because I had to sort of tilt my head because I am too tall for it. It is a stupid car and I suspect the Camaro is the same.

Having owned a 5.7 Dodge Magnum, I was leaning toward the Challenger.
But I would have to try out the Camaro before I would make a decision.  In terms of styling, I like the proportions of the Camaro more than the Challenger but I like the front of the Challenger more than the Camaro.

This also coming from a long time GM fan. I like the looks of the Challenger best, but ordered a new Camero for the Wife`s 25th anniversary gift. She said the car was to big and did not want it. I have an 07 Shelby GT500 and love the car even if it is a Ford!

Gotta be the Challenger. Our company car has been on order for a while now. Plum Crazy Purple SRT8 is what's coming. Should be here soon...

I'm leaning towards a Challenger. I've owned way more Camaro's (15) than Challengers (1) but the 6.1 Hemi 6 speed will be on my short list in 2 years. I've had the Charger for 4 years and still love the car. The 5.7 Hemi is nice, the 6.1 is nasty. Plum Crazy with white seats & stripes. Why? Because one of my high school friends had one in the summer of '70. It was the coolest car around, hands down.

Well I was fortunate to be able to have all 3 "PONY CARS" for a day I will admit I am not a ford fan by any means but the new mustang shelby gt500 is one hell of a car. Tons of power with the supercharger and comfort. As for the camaro it was a real pleasurable car to drive had good power and real nice handling. Now how can this be said on the challenger well um I think what dodge has done with it is retooled the body and dropped it on a 70 powerprain It felt like I was cruizin an older muscle car It was a rougher ride and just didnt seem to have the responce as the other 2. Now I fully understand that the mustang can not really be grouped with these 2 because it is seriously in a class of its own. If I had a choice between the camaro and challenger I would keep my roots right and go with the chevy

I don't like the new Camaro's looks (although it has a lot of the G8 performance genes in it).
The Challenger is one beautiful car!

I like the challengers looks over the camaro.  The camaro's nose section is to short for a camaro look.  If they made the nose longer and took the smile out of the grill, maybe. But then it would look like the challenger.

Styling is subjective and a personal thing, so no point in commenting on that.

I have friends who own both.  One traded in a 2007 Mustang GT for an 09 SRT-8 stick car in B5 blue and he just loves it, night and day difference from the Mustang.  He is also a big Mopar guy (currently doing a frame off on a 69 Roadrunner AND has a 71 340 Challenger as well) and he says it "feels" like an old style muscle car; big and hulking (it's monstrous when parked beside his 71) lots of go-go but handling can be a bit of handful, but obviously it is still way better than the 71.

Another has a V6 stick Camaro, he loves it as well.  The best part about the car is that direct injection V6 which only makes 15hp less than the Mustang's V8!  It sounds great as well, handles like it's on rails.  He sees no need to go for the V8 unless you are going to the drag strip every weekend or you plan to get into heavy modding.  That being said, this new V6 will be the star of the GM line-up for many years to come and should attract lots of aftermarket support as well.  Although he hasn't tried to drive conservatively, he has gotten 30 mpg on the highway.

I drove a friends Hemi 09 Challenger auto...she let me drive it like I stole it....She was floored with what the car could do. I was veyr impressed with handling, braking, and acceleration. I drove a 08 Stang. didnt like it. doors are to high, near zero room(felt like a fat chick hugging me the whole time). Havent driven a new Camaro yet. As much as I like GM muscle...Id get the Challenger. Best looking, most room. Good performance....to each his own. Now if it was a choice between a 69 Camaro SS 427, 69 Challenger or 69 428 Cobra Jet....Id take the Camaro.

I liked the look of the new Camaro when it first came out...but now as time goes on, I really think it is only the Black ones that look good, from some angles they look like Kit Cars.

I'll take a Challenger, 6.1L SRT 6-speed in Black or B5 Blue, thanks.

The Plum crazy with white interior is at the Detroit Auto show. Up next is Hot Pink, or Furious Fuchsia as they are calling it now. I never liked it in the 70's, don't think I'll like it this time around either!
