Parts locator service

I will be in Florida for 90 days starting in Jan. 2010.  I plan to attend all the outdoor swap meets I can find on weekends.
If you are in need of any parts that are not Canadian built only.  Interchangable parts from U.S. cars, please email me a list with your contact info in case I need to call while I'm looking at parts.
I will be glad to buy any parts you need and bring them back to Michigan.  From ther we can either meet at the border, ship via postal carrier or possibily even deliver into Canada.  I will be returning home in mid to late April.
I have access to a car hauler, enclosed trailer or just the bed of my truck.  If I find an item that is in less than good to very good condition, I will contact you prior to purchase.  If I find something in good to very good condition, I will at least email what I have found.  I have a small laptop with wireless card that will be in my truck.  On any given weekend, you may receive an email requesting authoriaztion to purchase a part for you.  Once you give authorization and the part is purchased, you will receive a picture of the part.  At that time or within 24 hrs, you will need to send a deposit or full payment via paypal to my account.
My experience and I'm sure yours is that occasionally, you find a vendor at a swap meet that has parted a car that is exactly the car you are trying to restore.  This is the time my service will be invaluable.  If I locate that guy who has a truck load of parts you are in need of, I will be able to connect you two and help you get the parts you need.  If you are only looking for NOS, you need to tell me show quality or NOS.
I hope to put together a small data base of parts people are looking for.
You are under no obligation to buy or pay for anything just because you send me a list.  You will be contacted prior to any parts being purchased unless they are parts I can use for my stock anyways.  Feel free also to send request for complete cars, restored, drivers or parts cars.  There are many many car guys in Florida in the winter.  Contact Norm (fore-speed) at Halletts1@chartermi.net

I think I would like to stay away from glass.  The only glass I would buy today is if I found factory tinted side glass.  Otherwise most side glass in the early cars is just flat and can be purchased from any auto glass shop.  Also, I just put a new windshield in my 62 Nova Convertible and the supplier is in northern Minnesota, I think, anyway the shipping was equal to the cost of glass, so I just waited until I found the glass man at a Goodguys show and purchased it there to save the shipping.
I paid something like $129 for a tinted windshield and the shipping would have been another $100.  My point is that at $129 for new who would buy used.  Used windshields have a habit of breaking upon installation.
Another reason for staying away from glass is, how do you identify it.  The seller can say it came from a 66 Chevelle but how do I know until you try to install it.
I could handle a rearend, but all I will do is identify the style, width and pop the cover to ID the R&P ratio.  I really do not want to get into decoding the build dates and such.
An example would be last year I came across a guy with a muncie 4-spd for sale.  I took pictures of the trans inside and out and emailed them to a friend back in Michigan.  He said it looked good from the pictures and the price was OK.   I had to drive 200 miles round trip to get the trans so I gave my friend a price for delivery to Michigan.  I bought the trans and brought it back in April.  I drove 15 miles to deliver it to the friend and I made a couple hundred dollars on the deal minus my gas and time.  It was a win, win as far as we both were concerned.

Ya, That's what I am willing to pay. But I called Speedy Auto Glass, and they want over 500 for the windshield.
But, I have to remove some rust, meaning I am probably going to end up taking out  the old glass, fixing the rust, etc. Then all they have to do is install it, and for $500? Seems kind of high. No?

If I can find a new windshield for $150. Which glass company should I try?

I was also looking for a 3.42 Posi for a 68 Riviera.

I really don't understand, I did a google search for "classic auto glass" and found this place in 15 sec.

http://account.autoglasshosting.com/nswizard/?zip=48604&year=1968&make=Buick&model=Riviera&bodystyle=2+Door+Hardtop&_ob=WS&_os=&opening=WS&A=Q&acct=w2g

Their quote instantly on the web site was $170.  You can email them at sales@windshieldstogo.com

If I can do this in 15 sec. why can't you??

The place where I bought my windshield is:
Auto City Classic, Inc
28433 Hwy 65 NE
Isanti, MN  55040                 email them at  autocity@worldnet.att.net
They travel to many many major car shows and you can usually catch up with them at one near you and save the shipping.

In terms of your rearend, I will help anyone find a rearend if you tell me what it is.  68 Riviera isn't good enough.  I need the make the style, the width inside backing plate to inside backing plate and width inside spring to spring, for leafs or some other reference point for coil spring.  Posi, I understand, not a problem but 68 Riviera, I don't know if that was a 10 or 12 bolt, I would assume it has a rear cover.

One last thing, I requested any inquires be made by email, we don't need to use up space on this forum for personal request.
