Although this song is not specifically about Christmas, I always associate it with holiday season. It is my favourite Gordie Lightfoot song ever, and I was lucky enough to hear him perform it live at Massey Hall last month. Because it is sung rather softly, age hasn't affected his ability to perform it too much, and when I closed my eyes, I could imagine when I heard it performed for the first time back in the 70's. I couldn't find an original cut on youtube, but this cover is well done and very true to the original:
Pretty unoriginal on my part, and not very "classic" but I love all the Boney Christmas music. It brings back memories of when my wife and I first met in the mid 80's, we both loved it.

Catching up on this thread, late night at the office.
Thanks Hillar and Bob for this one. Ryan and I were reminiscing about the Northern Lights last night and then to hear this song and see the sights that go with it. God I love this country! We are truly Blessed to live here and have a songwriter like Gordon Lightfoot who can move us so.
http://www.tropicalglen.com/ As you will see when you click on this site, there is a Jukebox- but it is no ordinary jukebox.
It will play all of your favourite songs from 1950 through 1982. Each year has a scroll or drop down box that shows all the great songs for that year. Most years have over 40 songs.
Once you click on a song it will play and when it finishes it automatically plays the next song in the list and continues until it has played all the songs.
Jethro Tull "A Christmas Song" This is a song I've always liked. Not your normal Christmas tune, but I love the lyrics especially "That christmas spirit is not what you drink". & the mandolin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yibz4xAejos
