65 Parisienne convertible for sale - need input fast!

guys, need your help. I've found a 65 that the gent is unloading because of moving south. He seems legit, spoke to him at length today. Car is red with white/white, replaced bumpers, roof, has a 350engine with 2 spd tranny, some small bubbling showing in rear qtrs. Said he sold it a year ago and got it back from the guy (a dispute with his wife over the car and had to give it back).
Does anyone know this car?

There is a lot of conflicting information in that ad.

How close are you to where the car is located?  At $6K, any convertible is worth having a look at.  It looks good in that one picture.  Take your flashlight and a magnet to check for bondo and go crawl around underneath it and see what you can see.

That's not his car in the pic.

ur right, they mention thats not the car in the pic. I can go see it later this week, unless someone lives nearer to Stoney Creek than me!
So checking out the frame, if the doors close/lignup is important for a convertible, any other suggestions?
Any other feedback? Appreciate it.

I've seen this advertised a few times. Never any pictures. Sounds good.....but don't they all? Price seems cheap enough if it's not a bondo wagon. Rear quarters and frame are the 2 spots to check closely.

Check in the trunk at the back of the wheel tubs. That is one of the first rust places.

Also the convert top bow across the front on top of the windshield. The top side, not the windshield side.

OK, more good input., thx. he mentioned some small bubbling starting on the rear qtrs., trunk and underneath all good. I have to agree that $6K for a topdown is good, if in reasonable shape.

Rear frame where the lower control arms mount tends to rot out on these cars.

Very typical of today's marketplace-someone finds what "appears" to be a smokin' deal-and everyone sits on their hands wondering what is wrong with it-

I'm not interested -but if I was it woulda been in my driveway by now-hell I woulda never seen it at $5900 because I woulda been diving in when it was $6400 if I wanted it.

Either its still sitting there and the owner is scratching his head wondering why its not sold yet-or its still sitting there and its rough-of course he's still scratching his head though.

It's no wonder we're a skeptical bunch, we're used to at least seeing a decent picture or two with most CP for sale ads. I mean, even only being $6500, I'm sure he could have at least made the minimum effort to recruit someone to take a few shots of it and get them posted. Just seeing the picture of a perfect looking "similar" model makes me shake my head because I know what that usually means.

I'll go have a peek at it tomorrow so we can find out.

I sometimes think I could make a living marketing cars and parts for people.

To me it's basic advertising a car---

Run the ad. Include year, make, model, a number of good pictures and indicate more are available if needed. List engine size, transmission, options, mileage, any upgrades, any unique features of the car, history if known, documentation, condition of powertrain, paint, interior and undercarriage, and anything else of interest on the car.

And then put a PRICE!!! (And yes, I know this one is priced!)

For all we know, the one being advertised is a 409 4 speed. Or the frame is rusted in half. Whatever, just list details.

I'm sorry if I crapped on anyone here by being so harsh, but as stated, a poorly written ad often proves to be a waste of time when you go see the car.

Rant over......

Hey, that a nice find !

thats pretty funny-because I was thinking it looked something like the one that sold on e-bay for $11,000 that everyone was hot over-yet theres no apparent interest in David's car/your old car-I understand the price range difference is 100% but the condition a little more

Oh and yes I'm guessing if the 65 hasn't sold locally it probably does ressemble this picture

Just finished speaking to him. the car has PS, PB and says its solid. Cannot get any pic's to me????? very interested in only selling it to someone that will appreciate it.
He's replaced the bumpers, and had the brakes done recently. I'll try to get there this weekend. If anyone beats me there, feedback would be appreciated, if you don't buy it!
Yeah, still sounds a little fishy, but worth a vist (1.5 hours away from me though)
Thx guys

I'm 10 minutes away.
I sent him a reply on the kijiji ad asking to look.
If he replys I'll go out...Heck, I'll go out anyway tomorrow and hopefully see it and let you know if it's legit.

I was sort of thinking that too-with the address and times available-maybe just trying to send people to someone house ? anyone reverse the phone number to see if it matches the address ?
