Another highlight of my trip to the Caymans was the opportunity to swim with wild Stingrays. There is a shallow sandbar about a mile offshore. Years ago fisherman used to dump their fish garbage in that area which attracted the Stingrays. One of the fisherman got the bright idea to charter tours to the area. It was quite an experience! Two simple rules. Keep your feet planted on the ground at all times and don't "hover" over the Stingrays. As long as you follow the rules, you are pretty safe. You can feed them squid pieces. Once you start you get swarmed. When you feed them you have to tuck your thumb into your fist as they rays use suction to draw up the food. A short distance in their mouths are teeth. Needless to say you don't want your thumb up there. And guys, you wouldn't want to do this in the nude!
