RE: Black Panther Info

hey all just found this discussion.my dad was gary banks and he owned the 427 black panther in nova scotia.oringinally it was a 396 car with a 427 l88 out of a 67 vette tuned by motion.it was actuallya ss not rs/ss (common mistake according to him) gil trembley raced it for bob macdonald before it was sold and dad bought it from that owner and ran it for a while before selling it however the 427 was removed before the sale and if i remember right a 327 replaced it and the 427 was sold and is possibly still hanging from the rafters where it was removed all those years ago.i may never have seen the car but heard lots of stories, one wicked street car to say the least and strangely enough he drove it hard but never got any tickets lol stupid luck i believe he said.

When Richie Jenkins' Corvette was sponsored by Esso and it was called the sleepy tiger. I spoke to him in 1979 and he told me he used to do two pedal to the floor passes on a 1/4 mile straight stretch of the Hammonds Plains Road on the way home every night. Richie had sold the the Sting Ray and was driving and blue and white 59 or 60 Corvette that I think was restored by Donny Hamm of Halifax. Richie really missed the Sting Ray and said he tried to buy it back from the new owner.
