My old 66 Nova SS

Sitting here waiting for supper ( it's smelling great) looking at old pics.

This is my 66 SS 327 4 speed I had from 80-88. Original red car, was a 283 glide from new. I did it up as an L79 clone.  This is fresh from the paint shop, not totally reassembled yet.

I always liked that body style. 327 four speed had to be a lot of fun.

I hammered more full throttle shifts in that thing than I will likely ever do now for the rest of my life! That was fu-un!!!

I took a stock large journal 68 327, put in a set of rings, main and rod bearings, timing gears and chain, L79 cam, believe it or not, a brand new L79 65 Chevelle intake that I ordered through GM, a 780 vac secondary Holley and stock exhaust manifolds, put in an old used M21 ($125), stock GM shifter, 3.73's and a posi into the stock 10 bolt and drove the tar out of that thing. It may not have been overly fast but my old primitive magnetic pickup  timer gave me 97 mph 1/4 mile speeds. Not too shabby for a used engine that wasn't even bored to clean up the cylinders!

I would still have that car today if the front end kits out now (CPP or Church Boys) had been around then. I sold it because I couldn not get it to hold an alignment for more than a couple of days, no lie.

It was a very solid car I got needing only very minor rust repair. A real red 66 SS car is pretty desirable.

I added tinted glass, power antenna, power trunk, reclining passenger bucket, 66 wood wheel, headrests, bumper guards, those cool wheel covers and likely a few more things that I forget now. Oh well, my 67 SS project car I have now is a matching numbers 327 air car with no rust, so even better. (Just consoling myself!)
