Canadian juniors are playing some pretty exciting hockey

Man just finished watching their match against the U.S.A. and hockey doesn't get any better than that.  Unbelieveable goaltending until the shootout but what great end to end action.  I've watched a few NHL games live but man give me junior anyday, those kids just pour out their hearts shift after shift.  They don't seem to worry if they make a mistake or not they just go for it.  I've fallen asleep at NHL games where they were just there to collect their cheques and they sure didn't want to take many chances.  This game reminded me of the Oilers of old when a couple goal lead didn't mean a whole lot and you just sat at the edge of your seat.  I've played alot of hockey and there were times when we had to play the trap but give me a run and gun game to watch any night.  Go Canada go.

That was an awesome finish. I was out at a show but got home with 9 minutes to go, just in time for the fireworks to start. Our boys had them on the ropes after that third goal so to me it was just a matter of time. Won in regulation time too but we all know that IIHF officiating has never been on our side. Good on the boys and coaching staff not to get rattled, they showed a lot of poise in bringing this one home.

Helps ease the pain for a little bit for our great land after out horrific loss of life yesterday.

Awesome game, doesn't get any better than this, a New Year's Eve tradition!
Canada gets the tieing goal late in the 3rd short handed.  Should have won it in regulation a few minutes later but ref ruled goalie interference after an American player pushed the Canadian player into the crease!  Canada carried the play in the overtime and prevailed in the shootout.

Awesome New Years present. The junior team won & I was at the Flames vs Oilers game and the Flames won that too, 3 in a row now. Great fireworks show after the game too. Its a great game !! The Winter Classic looked really good today too at Fenway Park. Boston won it in OT, could not have been better for them ! Not getting any car time too much hockey happening.....

There was 2 different games and the part we won wasn't good enough. I was watching with my son and daughter and beginning of the third I said to them if Russia gets one here right away we are in trouble, we've caved before. Within 2 minutes they had started it and they didn't stop. Too bad but Russia has talent too.

Not a good result but maybe a very good thing for Canadian hockey, two losses in a row at Juniors sends a pretty clear message. I predicted a Bronze a few days ago after losing to the Swedes, this team just didn't have it. cry

Makes you want to puke. Coaching, just sit back and protect the lead.

Looked like they just ran outa gas late in the second. I don't think they sat back, just watching their stance and all, they didn't have it as they spent it all. Wonder what the Russians were doing different, as they were outstanding in the 3rd periods coming from behind in all 3 games...

You know Mike I know this will hurt too but remember my son played his career as a goalie. The goaltending was suspect from day one, I hate saying that knowing these boys are just kids but look at the situation there. I know my own kid could let in 5 over two periods but in a big game he could shut the door in the third, Grant Fuhr was the master at that with the Oilers, his average over his career is high but no one will ever doubt his greatness in the playoffs.

It's not fair singling kids out but #20 LeBlanc was on the ice a lot when the Russian were scoring and looking lost too.

As for the coach, he called that time out too late when it was tied, the game was over by then. It's tough being a coach in that situation. I know I'll take the blame for losing the City Championship with an 18-20 yr old team I coached. I lost the series it in the first game by making the wrong call on the goaltender. It was a one game difference in the end, 4-3. If that guy has never been in a big pressure game before mistakes will be made.  cry

Was sad to see the kids faces at the end of the Game. They knew the Russians had come back 2 times to win. Who would have thought they could do it again?? Have to give credit to the Canadian Kids for playing good Hockey and not to look at it as a bad loss but more as a silver for their efforts.
