Sorry that was trying to work on it 2-3 hours per week I promised him I would have it ready, by Bean Fest weekend......
Since it's not Poncho, I haven't really said much about what I'm going to be doing with the 59 Dodge I bought this past fall.
I removed the seats and carpet to assess the floors. They really aren't as bad as I expected. Still, they warranty replacing with southern steel. The trunk is the same story. I found a yard with a good reputation in California called "Big M's" and ordered a complete floor and trunk pan from a rust free car. Unfortunately to ship the floor pan, it had to be cut along the hump. No big deal as I think I'll cut my floors just before the hump.
Here's what I am working with:
The coax laying on the floor in the above photo is for the twin rear antennas which were long gone from my car. I managed to find a nice pair on Kijiji. You can see the split connector at the end of the coax.
A little bit of rot at the kick panel area:
Old brazed in patch on the drivers side. Surprisingly the floors are good where your feet go. Usually this area is shot:
Under the back seat on the drivers side: Rotted out at the mount
Passenger side at rear of door- more rot:
Once I have the replacement pan I'll have a better idea on how I am going to tackle this. I've created some discussion on the Mopar boards about the proper way to do floor repairs. About half say to overlap your panels, the other half say to butt weld them. I'd prefer to butt weld them. The reason the "overlappers" are against butt welding is they say butt welded pans can oilcan and the welds arent' strong enough. I prefer the finished appearance of butt welded repairs. Opinions?
My Whiplash, from the accident in Sept, has kept me out of the garage.... My back and neck stiffen up if I do a whole lot, so I'm tryin to take it easy til I'm 100%....Or is that just an Excuse? Maybe I'll try and do something this week.

Too cold here till spring to do much. Last stuff i did i posted on the what did you do in your garage thread. If a couple mild days come along i may try replacing the drivers side door handle. The other big thing is a floor repair but i need my father in law to help me with that and we won't tackle it until spring. Some other stuff i think i'll contact our resident mechanic Tiny about, again in the spring when the car is back on the road.
