i personally prefer butt welded, i butt welded the quarter panel on the impala but took my time so i had no warpage, then it took a very light skim of filler to finish it off. this way you dont have an overlap for rust to start.

I'm a butt man myself.....

I've done a few sets of floor pans/repairs and the butt welding is very time consuming but very rewarding to look at the finished product.
