Who Knew ? ......a 375 HP Hyundia !

My son was telling me about this inexpensive 375 HP Hyundia and I'm just nodding my head. I mention this to Astro-Jet and we both scoff at the thought of such a thing.

I decided to look it up tonight and guess what.....the Goose is right !

Yeah, I read some stat where overall car sales in the industry have been down by something like 40% and Hyundia sales are up by 25%?...

As far as new car styling goes, not a bad looking car.

Yeah. At a recent car show, I was in one and could help but notice how clean the dash design was. The nicest of all those I sat in. If it was North American, and if I was in the market for a new car (two big ifs), I would consider one.

Once again this is the problem. The imports are cheaper, and now you are getting more power, and decent designs out of them. Will the big three ever figure this out?

RE: Who Knew ? ......a 375 HP Hyundai !

Good luck trying to figure out the North American car buyer.

The Japanese/Korean manufacturers entered this market selling shoebox alternatives to all those overpowered cars and behemoth trucks that the Big Three were selling. They bragged about how there was no need for all that power and size. So, North Americans said, "Yeah, we don't need those V8's and big cars. We'll buy smaller".

Alright, so the Big Three started building smaller (cars and engines) to answer the market.

But, once they got a foothold, and the profits were rolling in, the Asians started offering the very thing they were against back then........more horsepower and cars and trucks that are just as big as the North Americans. Hyundai now boasts 350 hp. Meanwhile, Buick is bragging about its new 4-cylinder engine, while its most powerful V8 is still under 300 hp.

So, what do North Americans really want? evileye Hell if I know.

I think I would like that Hyundai Genesis with a Buick badge on it....

I guess the Lucerne is as close as it gets. Northstar power is sweet.
