RE: A couple of neat old coins (or) What else do you collect?

I wish i had my original collection of Hot Wheels, they were early 80's granted but still would like them back. I have found some old ones over the years but i kept mine in nice shape. I have newer ones i've bought still in the packs but i stopped getting them a few years ago. Finally bought the real deal and want money for it! I forgot to mention all the old mags i've got. About a book case full, mostly Autosport from the 70's. I also have some late 50's and up Road and Track along with some 60's Hot Rod mags. I've got a small hat collection, which reminds me, where can i get a Pontiac hat???

Thank goodness someone has more than me. biggrin I stopped buying them about 6 years ago. Are your's in original packaging still?

THE OLDER ONES ARE ONES I PLAYED WITH AS A KID, SO MOST ARE IN ROUGH SHAPE WITH BENT AXELS AND "CUSTOM" PAINTWORK. THE NEWER ONES ARE STILL IN THE PACKAGES. I USED TO SHOW THEM TO FRIENDS KIDS WHEN THEY WOULD VISIT, I QUIT DOING THAT BECAUSE I COULD SEE THIER LITTLE HEARTS BREAK WHEN I TOLD THEM THEY WERE JUST FOR DISPLAY NOT PLAYINGfurious. IT JUST SEEMED MEAN...

Johan was the best model company as they had the "weird" cars like the 60 Plymouth Wagon. My friend Mike is on here from time to time. I hope he will see this thread and post pics of his collection. His basement looks like a 1960's hobby shop!

JoHan did a lot of the dealer promo cars in the 60's. I had some weird oddball ones too. Like 64 Imperial and a AMC Ambassador & Marlin, can't remember the years.

My dad had a reissued Marlin kit, don't know what happened to it.  I know they did a bunch of promos too.  I don't have any of them, just the kits which includes the Chrysler Turbine car.  Still needs to be built and it is one complex kit for its time!  The thing i don't like about some of the reissues they did was the amount of flash you have to clean offevileye

I have a small collection of 1940's currency, but when I heard that Canada was withdrawing the $1,000 bill in 2000, I made sure to grab one before they were all recalled. Into the safety deposit box it went for future grandchildren.

Good luck finding one now. wink

I actually had one in my hand for literally 2 minutes back in late 99, early 2000. I was working at a small computer shop and someone came in and bought a system, they paid with the thousand dollar bill and the remainder in a cheque. I took the payment and gave it to the accountant. That's my brush with big money.

Show Off !

When I worked as Director of Revenue for the City it was common place for people to pay their property taxes in $1000 bills.

I once had a young staff member come to me and ask me if this was real money and should she accept it. They were the previous issue so they had the old school Queen on them pretty much the same colour. That series was 1954 issue and here was an employee born in the late 70's, never saw one.  She was holding 14 of them crisp and new.....wonder where they had been?

The car dealers I know just loved the $1000 bills. A few of them were pee'd off when they took them out of circulation. I bought a Corvette years ago off a dealer and we did a lot of haggling over price. The clincher for him was that I had gone to the bank that week and requested 9 of those bills because I knew that would help me get a good deal. When I pulled them out he said SOLD!!

IS THERE A PRICE CATALOG FOR OLDER GUITARS WHERE YOU COULD LOOK ONE UP AND DETERMINE VALUE AND RARITY?

I think there is Mike but i dont know what its called, and just like cars its a hard thing to put value on. Do you have a guitar you want the value of? It depends on make, moel, and year, just like cars. If you have a 1959 Gibson Les Paul I will trade you my wife for it!! I have a really nice copy of one. the pic of the guitar by itself is a real 59, and the one to the right of the double-neck is my copy, payed ALOT less for that copy!!

WAS JUST CURIOUS ABOUT MY ELECTRIC BASS. I WOULDN'T SELL IT FOR THE WORLD, JUST NEVER SEEN ANOTHER OF THE SAME MODEL. I'M SURE IT'S NOT WORTH MUCH. IT'S AN ARIA PRO II RSB SPECIAL I BELIEVE FROM 1980.

some of those early aria's were really nice, solid intruments. I had a 82 aria pro II les paul type guitar at one time, another one i wish i dident get rid of!! Its tough to say about what its worth, but if your not selling it than it doesent matter! LOL
I would just try to find out through the net what they might be going for (a model close to yours) When i think about the guitars and basses I sold I usually start crying!! I had a guitar I made and a 70s fender precision bass stolen from me (11 yrs ago)and i still look for that guitar in pawn shops now and again.

it was like a telecaster, but with a poplar body that was contoured like a strat, a rosewood strat style neck, locking tuners, two humbucking pickups, through body bridge, and was signed by my fav. band Big Sugar and Rory Harper the blues musician. It took 3 months to build that guitar and it was perfect. I have not made one since then that was as good.

Do you have a pic of your bass? Hers one im making right now. Its a mahogany body with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, its a fretless and i might make it a 5 string. The body is copied from a Carl Thompson bass (check them out online)

also, heres a guitar i made for my brother in law. its mahogany with flames carved in it by hand (that was a pain in the ass!! but neat effect)

It is actaully not illegal to scan the money. The illegal part comes when you try to use it.

better you explain that to the boys in blue than me-

"do not duplicate" is the general rule of thumb-as for what the law says I've never read up

I found a 1922 nickle 2 years ago, underneath the floorboards when i was ripping out the pulpit at our church. they replace the stage. probably fell out of some ministers lose change when he was giving his sermon. really nice shape worth about a buck or two.
