Francellis resturant in Royal Oak is the hang out spot for cars and car guys during the  summer Cruz in every Sat. night. Some die hards hang out for coffee in the mornings during the winter. lots of pictures on the walls of all the local cars. If the weather is good a few cars will still show up on any given day in the morning .

I first visited the island back in 1992.  Really like the place and the people.  Had the chance to move to Calgary back in 1995,(i am from the maritimes) went there lots, even had myself posted for 2 years from fall 1998 to fall 2000. That really sold me on the place. Being living in Calgary since. Long and short, I am looking at a semi retirement starting spring of 2011.  Vancouver island is the choice.  Going to see what I can buy and also what is avaible to rent for storage of some my babies, that way I can decide what will come with me.  May take you up on that offer of coffee/beer.  Thanks to everyone on suggestions of where to try for dinner.  I have a couple of favoriate ones.  One is Big Bad Johns, just to enjoy a few brews. Cheers

i was posted to the island from 85 to 89. nice to visit but i wouldn't retire there. cost to much to get off. and if you want to go for a criuise there is only one highway going north. even weekend jaunts had to plan around everybody else trying to get on a ferry. don't get me wrong, very beautiful island but i like to travel, bike, car or truck and the island wasn't conducive to it.

Good place to buy right now that is a very nice place to live if you are retiring AND a car loving type of person is Mission out in the fraser valley. Home prices are still resonable,We have a dragstrip, and are far enough away from the big city for Me but close enough to shopping[ugh] for the wife.

Hey kim, it's 65sssd not 65ssd. As for the shop it's really looking great. I will post a picture of the progress soon. The cars are dry and four fit nicely in one bay. Good thing I have four bays. Hows that orange beast coming along?

I don't know why I missed the S. I had to stop on the orange one due to a medical issue in the family. I can always take ole yellow down to Oregon in May

Orange would be way nicer, LOL. Ya that 65sssd has some nice place to rest his toy, IF HE CAN GET IT FINISHED, LOL. Sorry paul couldn't resist. There is a few of us that would be more than happy to show u around and have coffee or Beer. 65sssd is not far from me and we could meet up as well. I think 65sssd should put up a larger shop or heat storage place so we can hide our toys there. He's got lots of room. LOL.

It takes time to finish the beast, not money. She's close now. I'm just a cheap guy that likes to do things himself. I like to know what is going into my project, just like my cars.
