Just as a heads up I just received conformation that the biggest show in western canada has been cancelled this year. The langley goodtimes cruize in is no longer. To much energy goes into it according to the exutives. Another excuse was the liability issues that were starting to arrise. Well I guess the jackasses doin all the big burnouts ruined another good family event

I was there in 2000. Stuck for 2.5 hours, as some idiot in an old highboy nova hit some ass that ran out into the street. I think that you will find that a lot of these events will start to disappear, as kids today have no concept about this kind of thing. The main drag was burnout central for the 1st couple of nights as people were showing up. Not to excuse the behavior, but why you would run out into the road when you know what is happening, is beyond me. And believe me, when you went to this event you know what it's all about! Too bad as this thing was freakin' awsome! 1000's of cars! Like the drive in's, going the way of the dodo.

I heard from Keith and a city member also and that is just one of the reasons. I also heard that the merchants wanted it to end. Unfortunatly I guess it just got to big to control. They are saying that they are just taking a year off but once it goes for one year I think that will be it. The langley good times site is also gone now.

Wow that surprises me. That show has to bring in mega bucks to the downtown merchants and the hotels and motels. Hope they can still pull it off. This news may get some more people on the wagon to help and make it happen. I sure hope so, great show.
that show was way too much fun, well you no if its fun and a money maker they better shut it down, if you were to go to one show a year that was it , what next???
Same thing happened in Kelowna about 3 years ago. They had their Field Of Dreams the day after the Langley show. Super venue at City Park right next to the lake. Lots of guys did Langley Saturday and came here Sunday. City got all worried about the grass getting flattened and a few other things, it's now history. They tried it a little ways out of town last fall but in my opinion it was a waste. Only got the car guys there while in town you get everybody and that's what makes it fun.
I've heard the rumour for a couple years that the Radium Show is not going to happen anymore....So far, its survived. Same thing though, the first couple years I went, the RCMP would be there watching traffic, as everyone did there burnouts on the Hiway for the cruize to Invermere. Then the last couple yers, they have a n officer sitting on the corner, but three or four at the top of the hill giving out tickets(or warnings) to everyone who so much as chirped the tires. Last year, they re-routed everyone down the pothole filled side streets, so there would be no fooling around.

Like I said before what a shame. It' too bad they just wouldn't pay a couple people 20 grand each and they can coordinate the volunteers or spread the 40 grand around and the community charities would still net 50 thou and there would be a lot of happy people. That doesn't include any of the money spent in the city at businesses that weekend either. So sad, maybe a little short-sighted.

im sure there was a 100,000 spent on tires friday night , never mind the gas and all the parts shops that will feel the crunch, well you know when theres a rescission the best thing to do is stop the flow of money, who's running the show here in BC dumb and dumber??????????? you would think that these clowns would want to make the city of langley some money after getting hosed for this olympic nightmare, maybe i will get rid of my cars and get a donkey so i can fit in around here.
The show got too popular and Friday night was a Zoo. What's going to happen at the Tim Hortorn's every Fri and Sat night in the summer. Going to shut that down as well.

Since that is so close to the Fire Hall, I don't think so. Also the lot is so small, not a lot of people come in. Seems like the RCMP has a big presence there as well.
KMS Tools had a small show going at the old Java Hut location on Friday nights as well. Closed down at 9 before all the loose cannons got involved.
We will see this summer, I guess.
Back to the Street Legals at Mission on Friday. There you CAN do burnouts. Ha.
