Heat issue in the Tahoe


I know im the mechanic but i got a wierd problem with my truck heat will work fine go over a bump and it gets cold hit another bump and it works again!confuse Help I think it might be the by-pass valve before the heater core but I have never seen one fail before?

What year is it? Seems to me it's a Vortec?

By chance is there a bad connection on the actuator motor for the temperature? Just a guess.

It sure sounds like it will be a weird electrical problem, in my best estimation as a parts guy!!!

When it's stuck in the cold mode have you pulled over and grabbed the heater hoses to see if it's still circulating?

the hose are hot and as soon as I grab that vavle the heat works again. It is vacuum operated

My Suburban had intermittent heat a few winters back but it was a blower motor coming and going. Dug into the dash and found the connector to the blower motor was melted and loose. Spliced in a new connector and its worked fine ever since.

Check the vacume  line for a crack.

Thats what has me puzzeled never seen this problem before every thing else is ok the blower motor is fine, thermostat, mode doors switch, im at a total loss I ordered the valve only $25.00 dollars just not 100% it is the problem.no

What about putting a pipe in to eliminate the valve and try it that way? If it's the valve I'm thinking of, it's only there to shut off the hot water to the core when the A/C is on.
