Other than the number above for 65 Custom Sports i don't know any for 1965.

For 1964 a fellow named Aubrey Bruneau who is said to be an expert on 409 Pontiacs had posted these numbers:
"\11-18-07

No serial numbers on engine pads in Canadian cars, Don. As has been mentioned here in Chevy Talk a few times... GM Vintage Vehicle Services in Oshawa, will provide a basic build sheet on most of the Canadian built GM cars from mid 50's, up. Yes, engine size is included, along with how many of that particular model were produced. Case in point would be the info on my 62 BelAir sport coupe, style 1537 ( 6 cyl model )...2045

style 1637 ( V8 model )...710

Here are some Canadian 409 car production figures that I know of:

1964 SS HT, 425HP... 17 were built in Canada
1964 Custom Sport HT, 400 / 425 HP... 10
1964 Custom Sport HT, 340HP 4 spd... 15
1964 Custom Sport conv, 340HP 4 spd... 8
1964 Custom Sport HT, 340HP auto... 30
1964 Custom Sport conv, 340HP auto... 10
1964 Parisienne Safari, 400HP... 1
1964 Laurentian Safari, 400HP... 1
1964 Laurentian 9 pass Safari, 340HP 4 spd... 1

Starting in 1963, the information package from GM Vintage Vehicle Services, gets pretty good. For my wagon, it indicated only part of the engine number... that being the build date of the engine, in this case, 0425 . Didn't indicate the HP. Engine was built in April 25th, 1963, which coordinates with the car's late May production. And yes, it came with a Muncie, rather than a T10. "

In any case they are rare.  if you have one chuckle evilly and greedily to youself!

65 Custom Sport is my favourite Canadian Poncho, well in the top two beside a 61 2dr Strato Chief sedan.  Anyway, you are lucky to have those, do any of them run?

the wagon runs Ive had it since the early 80s, savedit from being parted out usedit as a daily driver for years. even have a photo of some friendly drag racing at capital. still use it as a tow vehicle and to break in engine. the 400 horse is sitting ready for reasembly. did i mention it had 14000 miles when i got it. but the first priority is reasembling the 340 heads sitting in my kichen before the miss,s gets mad.

Is there any chance we can see some pictures?  I'm  especially interested in seeing the 65 with AC setup.  It was my understandng that you coudln't get factory AC in 65 so this would be really neat if it was.

They all sound very interesting and would fill some survivor gaps.

We could use the build dates on the 409 cars especially to fill in the picture on the last date of production of the 409 in passenger cars.

65Wagon, we believe that a Canadian Pontiac may be the last 409 car built just so you know where we are coming from.

If you could get the data plate info to Fred 68sd we could soon fill in some gaps. The other thing that goes with this is we believe is that no 396 1965 Pontiacs were built once Chevrolet made the change over.

The wagons number is in the thousand so i figure its early. i do know it was sold from nothern alberta new.i still have some of the paperwork somewhere. yellowknife rings a bell. When i got it there was lots of sandblasting underneeth but no salt damage. it also has to heaters, one under the seat(which was blown up filling the inside with coolant) and a rear unit.

This would be great news to document, as far as I know we have never seen a true 396 65 on here. There was one but we all agreed the 396 was about a 1968 version so a transplanted engine we believe. It was a maroon car for sale about a year ago I think.

If he owns the cars-he has the V.I.N.'s-$68 is an extremely small investment for the documentation they provide

that 460,000 mile standard bore block sounds interesting-I didn't think any of those vintage cars got that many miles put on them and still standard bore to boot !

Thanks 65 wagon, waiting to see!  Like the other guys said a shot of the cowl tags with the build date too on your cars could really fill in some knowledge as to when they stopped making 409 cars.  The  latest one we know of was built in April 65 and as far as we know they didn't make any confirmed cars in 65 with a 396, but we wouldn't mind to be proved wrong.

its kind of like detective work and your cars will give us a lot of clues.  As for Vintage Vehicles Services i'd  also recommend sending your VIN's in to George Zapora.  You will get the most reliable info available back, you'll find out some interesting things about your cars, you'll get bragging rights,  and if you ever sell them the documentation with the GM logo will more than pay for itself.
